If you deployed with a sustainment brigade that was previously unaligned with their parent division can you now wear the parent divisions patch now that they are realigned? Can deployed soldiers from previously unaligned sustainment brigades wear parent divisions patch? 2020-05-26T22:49:09-04:00 SSG Private RallyPoint Member 5938758

So we had a debate at work today. References:
a. Army Regulation (AR) 670-1, (Wear and Appearance of Army Uniforms
and Insignia) 25 May 2017.
b. Department of the Army Pamphlet 670-1 (Guide to the Wear and
Appearance of Army Uniforms and Insignia), 25 May 2017.
2. Effective immediately all Soldiers who previously deployed with a Sustainment
Brigade, other units attached or with a temporary assigned unit in an area of operation
and earned the SSl-FWTS will wear either the Division SSI, the unit attached, the
temporary assigned unit or the Sustainment Brigade the Soldier deployed with as the
SSl-FWTS.
3. In 2015, the Army aligned the Sustainment Brigades under the Divisions and were
directed to wear the Division SSI. These alignments balance the advantages of longterm
relationships between units versus relationships based on mission, regional
combatant commands, or contingency focus. As a result of this, the legacy SSls will be
unavailable for purchase due to vendors discontinuing the manufacture of the SS ls.
4. Went to RVN with 199th Inf Bde and wore that on my left shoulder when I wore one. After 6months moved to IIFFV. Had a mama san put that on left shoulder and put 199th on right. Went to 6th US Cavalry (real horny horses, not the pretenders in TX that called themselves the 6th US Cavalry Bde), put Horny Horse on left shoulder and about half and half with 199th Inf and IIFFV on right shoulders. Best go by what you wore on your left shoulder and you shan't go wrong.
