Can high blood pressure keep you from commissioning ?

I received a medical no-go for high blood pressure during my sf physical. I was unable to receive a waiver. I was wondering if you guys think I would run in to the same issue with my commissioning physical.

I imagine it might be an issue for wing Warrants, but may not be a problem for walking warrants. Check with the clinc that did your previous physical if possible. They would know the discriminators

Tech Warrants’ requirements are not as stringent as Commissioned Officers physical standards, however it would behoove you to look at the Warrant Officer recruiting website for more info.

Speak to your own physician as I believe if your High BO us controlled with medication you will be able to pass the military physical.

Hello SFC,
I just wanted to add my two cents in. I am a medic in an AMEDD unit and I am responsible for B/P readings on a daily basis. Essentially what MEDPROS will flag you for is a specific number (right? Imagine that) Anything above 140/90 is considering hypertension and unless you're on medications you will be flagged for this. I can say as a medic I will do everything in my power to be able to get that B/P down below the limits. I've seen a variety of readings, some people just have a normally high blood pressure (typically big and tall males). Also if you "cheat" and put your arm above the B/P reader it can balance out the readings. I hope this helps.
