Can I apply for aviator WO with two Article 15s?

I'm a E-5 in the Army, I'm currently on a aviation unit and I was thinking of the possibility of submitting a WO packet for aviator. I have two article XVs, one when I was a PVT and a second one when I was a SPC, both of them were for breaking curfew in Korea. Both times I got 14 days extra duty, did not got demoted. They do not show up on my IPERMS but when they did a background check on me to be unit armorer it they annotated both articles on the paper?

It is my understanding that all selection boards take into account the total Soldier concept. I would assume as long as you have strong letters of recommendation, high test scores, and well written NCOER’s that you would be just as competitive as anyone else who applies.

You can apply. Get a letter from a cw3 aviator or above. Best would be your company commander.

You can apply, but your chances are not as good as other candidates. What type of Article 15’s were they? Company level etc? When I applied in 2010 that stuff mattered. Especially if it was more than one as it showed lack of discipline. If they’re company grade they SHOULD drop off your file when you change units. My packet passed with flying colors. Aeromed is where I ran into problems.

Also it probably depends on whether or both there is a shortage of pilots at the time you’re applying, and what the rest of your jacket looks like. Good luck.

Unless things have changed over the years AR 15's, at least company grades which you describe drop off once you PCS to a new unit. They are strictly in house and the file is shredded upon you leaving. They should not have even shown up on a background check.

Yes, you can apply to be a WO. Nothing stops you there.

I think you'll be alright. Go ahead and apply. Strong letters of recommendation and a good overall resume will help your case.

Of course you can apply the worse they can do is give you a denial. Usually if they deny a packet it lists why and the procedures to correct the issue.

NJP is designed to help correct undesirable behavior and set a Soldier on a corrse correction. Since you made it to the NCO Corps, the Army has already determined that you have established leadership potential. If you have strong couple of NCOERs, especially one's that verify some level of leadership like team leader, and you get strong endorsement from your commanders' LORs, then you have a shot.

A lot will depend on how you sell yourself. Go for the highest APFT score you can get. When you fill out the application, and get to the part about PME, dont just list what was covered in BLC. Describe how you applied that knowledge as an NCO, and how your tezm/section /platoon /unit benefitted from your education

Often you will find that it's more about "what have you done for me lately".

Apply with at least three great references, CWO3 or above and your Commanding Officer. If they deny you, you are no worse off. Otherwise you risk passing on an awesome opportunity to show your growth and willingness to understand the finer points of why it is so important to follow commands. You do realize you didn’t get article 15’s just because you broke curfew—it’s much bigger and so much more important than that. Yes? Write a letter explaining that to the board and what you learned from those experiences. Don’t try to hide your art 15’s. Get ahead of them. It’s an integrity issue and will show that.
