Although I regret it now, it all worked out in the long run. Went into the reserves, got out of reserves, went back into reserves at same rank (SSG), got commissioned in reserves, went back active duty as officer. I didn't know about it before it went in, had I known, I'd have very definitely tried to go that way. I can only tell you that I think, albeit yrs ago now, I absolutely wanted what you want, different slightly, however, basically the same, within certain limitations of comparison. You'd need to see which of their gaining organizations might be able to pick you up, and need to speak with their recruiters. However, I "think" they do in fact use healthcare admins, and in fact "might" actually have a specialty in it. Even if they do, I obviously have zero clue whether they'd be needing anyone right now, or how they'd view a packet from you. However, it'd be just like applying to any other svc, though I know they generally direct commission and send their personnel to an OIS for indoc, as opposed to an OCS, per se. Now, at the same time, I'd certainly also look at Navy or USAF as well. I mean, you've got a Bach and a double masters, with doctoral level planned. I have other ways you might also try to seek what you want, however, this is a generally little known route that you "might" possibly luck out trying, that's all I'm saying. If I can find the page for them listing their med admin field, I'll also try to send it in here, as well. Let me give the matter some more thought; I can only wish you more luck than I had trying to go in that direction while I was in. I tried, boy, did I ever try, it just wasn't meant to be, I suppose, maybe I can help you have more luck than I did, hopefully. If you'd want to chat further, please, by all means, just say, and I'd gladly try to give you whatever other possible ideas might occur to me. I did genuinely try to get it, I really did; sometimes, you just can't win, I suppose, you know? If you can, try to elaborate on your overall interests and or exposure, what specific course topics you've covered, actual course titles and content, if at all possible. You could also try for going clinical at some level, and try to segueway back to healthcare admin, I know that's not what you mentioned here, I only mention it purely as a thought I offer for you to consider. If so, if you went clinical, would you have any preferences as to field? I only ask as I figure that might also have occurred to you as well, I only wish it'd occurred to me, back then, I guess. If you do elaborate, please try to be as explicit and detailed as possible, the more you tell me, the more I might be able to suggest, that's my only reason for mentioning that, honest. I hope that was of at least some possible use and or value, I'd be most eager to know your further thoughts, whenever might be convenient, anytime, by all means, as I'd said, if I have other ideas, I'll also try t send them, as well, many thanks.

How to Apply for a Commission with the USPHS Commissioned Corps

Application process for USPHS Commissioned Corps.
