SPC Private RallyPoint Member 6240903

I recently missed the cutoff score for AUG by 10 points and now the SEP points have skyrocketed by 240 points. This was caused by the addition of the wrong range card, which dropped my points by about 40. I’ve been trying to get this fixed for awhile now but for some reason it hasn’t populated in my PPW or ERB. Has anyone ever heard of or know a way to back track and promote? Can I back track to make E-5? 2020-08-24T16:50:47-04:00 SPC Private RallyPoint Member 6240903

I recently missed the cutoff score for AUG by 10 points and now the SEP points have skyrocketed by 240 points. Only thing to do is get the correct card uploaded and get your points recalculated. Then wait for the cut off to drop or get more points to make the cut off. I missed cutoff to SSG because S1 didn't get EOT awards uploaded in time from our deployment then. I just had to wait another month.

Get it fixed - make sure your NCOs know about this so they can help you. People complain all the time to HRC about information that was entered wrong etc., and HRC gives the same answer... not their problem, not accepting that excuse, tray again next month.

Best thing you can do is to hard charge, make sure you are squared away and have the most points you can possibly have... Sucks when the points go up but it happens. They will come down again... in time. If I would have took the APFT 7 days earlier I would of made cutoffs for August. So now I have the most points in my MOS and I’m playing the waiting game. That’s just how the cookie crumbles. Probably won’t pick up E-5 until after October or November because of the fiscal year. A similar one I had many moons ago and 1 of 2 things I emphasized to all my Airmen: 1, noone will love your career more than you and 2, it's your responsibility to ensure your records are up to date at all times.

After promotions come out is a bad time to do that and I saw that every promotion cycle for years. Had a TSgt upset a few years back that he narrowly missed making MSgt. If a decoration he'd been awarded years before had been included he'd have made it. I told him it was not the board or personnel offices fault he didnt know what was in HIS records AND the AF sends out a reminder force wide to remind people to check every year.

Good luck to you sir.

V/R
Bogie Response by MSgt Don VandeBogert made Aug 24 at 2020 6:13 PM 2020-08-24T18:13:08-04:00 2020-08-24T18:13:08-04:00 SSG Dave Johnston 6241341

Had something similar happen to me back when... PCS'd out of MEPCOM[LA MEPS] had a recomp done at Ft Irwin, Ca. was holding 890+/- promotion points... 14 days later signed into MFO Det Ft. Bragg NC and they did another recomp on me... Ft. Bragg tossed out a bunch of points that Ft. Irwin had ok'd... wasn't until I rotated back to the states that I could recomp again when I signed in to Ft Carson... Funny[ha,ha] frustrating; Carson gave me back the points that Bragg had denied... Worse yet, promotion points had dropped from the usual 998 for Medics to around 860 while I was deployed, would have if... took the VSI in '92...
