Can I be a military Police with a misdemeanor when I was 19 years old?

Hey everyone I’m Currently in the army and I’m thinking of reclassing as a MP but I have 2 misdemeanors one when I was 16 (disorderly conduct) and another when I was 19 (Trespassing) I just want to know would I be allowed to do this mos when the background I have because I know I can’t be an civilian officer.

Don’t waste your time with 31K, the chance of finding an empty class seat is almost impossible

Depends upon how many openings there are. The 31 MOS career field is rather small and has more requirements than a lot of MOSes. I would say one ding would be no problem but the second one will be a problem. You also need to be able to get a Secret Security Clearance. If you can't get the clearance you're dead in the water. When I was at MEPS, I was told that if I received an more tickets (only had one) my contract with be null. Like SFC Private RallyPoint Member pointed out, 31K is a tiny MOS. If you try for that one, you have to be lucky for an opening when you're reenlisting. 31K is easier for initial term Soldiers because they can just DEP to get a slot. Talk to your reenlistment NCO and BN/BDE Career Counselor.

If you’re ineligible to be a Civilian Law Enforcement, your odds of becoming an MP are slim. People like to make jokes but it is still Federal Law Enforcement.

Best way to find out is to go ask a recruiter, that’s the only way to know for sure.

Contact the court with your misdemeanor convictions, may be a way to get the record expunged. Relatively minor offenses and military service are in your favor. Occasionally the SJA will assist you with this.
