I imagine you would be as an NCO already, so I don&#39;t see why you can&#39;t be promoted. I know the ARNG has specific paragraph and line number slots per unit MTOE, but still being a semi-centralized promotion I believe you should be able to at least be promoted as a 19D. Best of luck! The guard only has so many positions in the state, it has to be vacant and you have to be fully qualified for that position. Push to go to MOS school so you don’t miss out 1SG David Niles Sun, 28 Mar 2021 13:15:55 -0400 2021-03-28T13:15:55-04:00 Response by SFC Kenneth Hunnell made Mar 28 at 2021 8:42 PM https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/can-i-be-promoted-without-being-mos-qualified?n=6861413&urlhash=6861413 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Ask yourself out loud, I don&#39;t think so SFC Kenneth Hunnell Sun, 28 Mar 2021 20:42:33 -0400 2021-03-28T20:42:33-04:00 Response by SGM Private RallyPoint Member made Mar 29 at 2021 11:42 AM https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/can-i-be-promoted-without-being-mos-qualified?n=6862797&urlhash=6862797 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>All Guard promotions are promotions and transfers to a valid vacancy for that MOS and grade.<br />If your only MOS is 19D, then you can only promote into a 19D3O duty position.<br />If your current state doesn&#39;t have one of those, then no, there is no place for you to promote to &quot;for the time being&quot;, while you pick up an an MOS that state has. First you have to be boarded by the state for promotion. My understanding is most states only hold annual boards.
