Can I become an Army nurse using green to gold? Or after completing my degree will I just be stuck to whatever they give me?

I want to be an officer but I don’t want to get stuck in any other field but medical. Can I become an Army nurse using green to gold? I remember seeing somewhere there was a nursing option. Or who do I need to talk to find a better answer?

Not sure how it works today but way back then ROTC had a Nursing program. Your best bet is to contact your preferred school’s ROTC PMS.

Army is always short nurses, so they may likely accommodate you. Talk to a specialized nursing recruiter.

You can do nursing in Green to Gold. You can also stay on active duty and go to nursing school under the Enlisted Commissioning Program.

My NCO incharge is SSG. He got into the green to gold program.
He is getting his nursing through green to gold.

Yes, it is best to do it up front; nursing ROTC scholarships and/or working through a medical recruiter. The PMS and their staff should have info.

Even so, if you get your degree and request the Nurse Corps they will likely select you....even if not in the branch selection process, you can transfer branches to the Nurse Corps. But it is easier and best to do it up front.

Speak with the Nurse corps folks now; go to the hospital and ask to talk to the chief nurse (might be best to have your green to gold and Nurse program acceptance first). Tell them you are doing G2G and nursing, they will likely latch onto you.

Short answer is yes. The hardest part is getting accepted to a nursing program.

Back when I was in ROTC (1988-1992) the answer was yes My school had a highly rated nursing program and we had thousands of dollars of scholarship money available just for nursing students that went unused because no I even applied for it Nursing students also did a separate Advanced Camp then also spending a lot of time at the hospital at Ft Lewis assisting the nurses there

As many have already mentioned, you totally can. You just need to be able to have two years remaining on your degree and remain enrolled full time for those 2 years. As someone else may have mentioned contact an AMEDD recruiter to discuss the other various Nurse accession programs available. If you go green to gold or ROTC as a nursing major you will be forced into nursing and not compete for other career fields.
