Can I change my enlistment contract?

I already signed my reserve contact, swore in at meps the first time, but I had a change of heart and now I want to go active duty

While a Drill Sergeant at Fort Leonard Wood i had many E.Rs AND N.Gs want to go active.Your unit commander in your home state has to approve it.Most don't.You enlisted for a specific spot on their roster.Many commanders wont release you.

Well you can get out and tell your recruiter you changed your mind or find another recruiter!

NO- but it is possible after training to request a transfer to AD.

Your recruiter will try and say you can't but you can, if anything just don't show up to the final meps swear in and your free to do whatever

When I got out of the AD, I signed up with the USAR. After 60 days, I had not received so much as a phone call. I went to the CAARNG recruiter and I had orders and unit within two weeks.

If you haven't shipped out you can back out or change your contract. But if you leave for basic and want to change it after wards you are kind of stuck doing that until you re-up for your next contract.

You’ll probably have to wait a year after you graduate AIT then you’ll be able to switch to Active but it’s sometimes a lil harder to switch from Reserves to Active then it is from Active to Reserves
