My brother signed an extension on his contract for two months (He was in the Marines like me). He had to list a reason for the extension. His reason for for an upcoming Med cruise. The unit ultimately was decided not to be part of the exercise for whatever reason. His Company Commander said, "Tough $hit" basically. He did an Article 31 and got the extension cancelled. It came down to the exact reason for the extension in this case.Response by Cpl Vic Burk made Apr 19 at 2021 8:00 PM2021-04-19T20:00:11-04:002021-04-19T20:00:11-04:00SPC Private RallyPoint Member6914757<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Nope. You'll have to request to be discharged or transferred to the IRR. You can do this through your CoC, which will pass through JAG at some point, and finally end with your TAG for approval or denial.Response by SPC Private RallyPoint Member made Apr 19 at 2021 11:52 PM2021-04-19T23:52:11-04:002021-04-19T23:52:11-04:00MSG Private RallyPoint Member6914863<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>No. But you could possibly transfer to the IRR. Why? Because your contract was extended, therefor you received a new ETS date. But if you want to get a clear cut answer, go back and talk with your Retention NCO that did your extension.Response by MSG Private RallyPoint Member made Apr 20 at 2021 1:58 AM2021-04-20T01:58:48-04:002021-04-20T01:58:48-04:00SSgt Christophe Murphy6915467<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>If you signed an extension and it ran your new ETS is your one ETS.
