Can I get both Airborne and Air Assault School in my contract?

My recruiter asked did I want airborne or air assault school in my contract. I always wondered could I do both. Like do airborne school first then air assault.

In this case, it's sounding like it's a one or the other. If you want to do both, try and get both.

Get everything you can in a contract, but no, there's no "guaranteed" air assault school unless you go to the 101st or another air assault unit.
An airborne unit will eventually send you to air assault school if you request it. There is an air assault unit that travels around the globe teaching at different posts, so you'll have the opportunity.

You can’t get Air Assault in your contract lol the only guarantee to get Air Assault is getting stationed at Ft Campbell. However, you can definitely get airborne in your contract.

Johnathon Greer You should request 101st at Fort Campbell, KY. If assigned to the unit you will be required to attend Airborne and Air Assault. You need to be in the best shape possible before you attend these schools.

You can only get Airborne in a contract, in that you would attend Airborne school after AIT enroute to your assignment to 82nd, 173rd or some other Airborne assignment.
Air Assault is only "guaranteed" if your contract is for the 101st, then you would go to Air Assault school at Campbell sometime in your first year there.
If you want both, get Airborne in your contract, and keep asking for Air Assault after you get to your unit.

You can’t get air assault in your contract, most posts either have an air assault school or will have a team come there during the year.

Easy choice. Get airborne. It's easier to get an air assault slot later in your career.

It isn’t possible to get both in your contract.

Take Airborne since it is very difficult to get now after many Airborne codes slots/units were taken off status.

Once you get to your first unit worknhard and earn a slot to AA school. There are numerous schools now but the Sabaluski at Campbell is considered the best (hotly debated though) and it is now easier to get to AA school than ever before. Passing is still a challenge :)

Good luck and maximize you benefits before signing. Get it all in the contract and make sure you live up to the agreement.

Yes when you get to your unit they can send you if mission dictates

Of course I am biased but I say, faced with the two choices - going to jump school is a no brainer. Later on, you can always learn how to slide down a rope fast.

Get Airborne in your contract. If you end up assigned to the 101st they will send you to Air Assault, or somewhere in your career you can go. But getting Airborne later is unlikely.
