I know the rules just changed and I am grandfathered in but my question is, does that apply to trying to go green to gold as well? I was in the process of transitioning to school with special ops during the big memo upload and my commander never did mine. How would this affect trying to obtain a commission. Is it too late for my old commander to upload a memo now stated that I had them beforehand? Can I go green to gold with grandfathered hand tattoo with no MEMO in iperms? 2015-08-11T18:49:33-04:00 SSG Private RallyPoint Member 882447 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I have a hand tattoo that I got back in 2009 when the military allowed them. Have you thouht about having it removed? That may well be the easiest route, and it may come down to that in the end if you want to be commissioned. AR 670-1 never authorized Soldiers to get tattoos in those locations after they enlisted. With that being said...unless you have some sort of proof that you had the tattoo when you enlisted...you may be subject to proceedings outlined in AR 670-1, Chapter 3-3f. The AR goes on to say that exceptions to policy will be considered for new accessions but makes no mention of current Soldiers.
