Can I reclass to a 42A if my GT score is not high enough but I have been working for 42A position for almost 6 months? https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/can-i-reclass-to-a-42a

I have been working for 42A position for almost 6 months now and I am trying to reclass. My primary MOS is 92Y. With that said my GT score is not high enough. But according to the DA pam my CL score meets requirements. Also when I looked into it . It stated anyone "enlisting " into the MOS after september 2015 must have 100 GT. I'm not enlisting , I am reclassing ? I have the CL score good to go. Anyone have any thoughts on this ? Trying to get an AGR position and reclass school. Regardless, you need to speak with your Career Counselor about this. Also, there is a course you can take to raise your GT. It will not end well for that AGR.

That said, in any state there are more AGR jobs in 92Y than 42A.
But 92Y and 42A typically combine to make up a third of all enlisted AGR jobs in a state. If you are an AGR with two MOSes, those are the two to have.
There is a BSEP course at NG PEC for raising your line scores. AD posts also offer the course if there is one near you, and you can just use self-study to increase your score. You will just need to go to your Retention NCO (sometimes called a Career Counselor).

I actually just barely qualified (in 2 areas) by a single point in my ASVAB to Reclass to 42A and shocked some by having the 2nd best score in the 42A School (LOL!).

I do wish you the best of luck in your Career! :-))

~ SSG Kerr (Retired) SSG Brian Kerr Sun, 10 Dec 2023 12:36:22 -0500 2023-12-10T12:36:22-05:00 Response by 1SG Rene Davis made Dec 10 at 2023 6:01 PM https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/can-i-reclass-to-a-42a?n=8582840&urlhash=8582840

I would not support. 1SG Rene Davis Sun, 10 Dec 2023 18:01:38 -0500 2023-12-10T18:01:38-05:00 Response by SFC Tj Smith made Jan 1 at 2024 7:43 PM https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/can-i-reclass-to-a-42a?n=8610129&urlhash=8610129

SPC Kc Cabrera, There are a few positive responses to your question. Sorry but from my experience there is no getting around it, I would also check and see what would it take to be awarded the 42A as a SMOS SPC Michael Moore Thu, 21 Mar 2024 09:38:35 -0400 2024-03-21T09:38:35-04:00 2023-11-28T23:44:23-05:00
