Can I reduce my Influence Point score?

This is for the admins. Is there a way to remove the points given to the members? I'm speaking ONLY for myself. I post because I like it here, not for the points, and I'd be happier if I didn't have any at all. I don't see this as a "contest" to win or anything of the sort. Liking my post or even disliking it shows me what I want to see and that's interaction with people.

I find the whole points system an odd thing as well. If I post something someone thinks is really stupid, and they go "who the hell is this dumbass?" and click on my profile, I get points for that. The correlation between inluence points and real influence seems pretty weak to me. You can connnect to a zillion people and rarely actually post any thoughts, and earn lots of points. It's sort of like having a top frequent flyerlist populated with people who earn points by using a credit card instead of flying.

But as long as they still have the RP Influence Point Catalog, I'm hanging in there for my dream prize coffee mug.

Just ignore the points. That's what I do. I could not tell you how many I have now because I don't give a damn enough to look.

Believe it or not, I found this discussion when I did a Google Image search for a RallyPoint post. It brought me back to RallyPoint. Anyway, regarding Influence Points - the point system is what originally got me hooked into RallyPoint in the first place. My competitive spirit HATED being 100,000th in anything. Now, it's not so much about the points as it is interacting with the community and offering sound advice. Whenever I have a question I can't answer myself, RallyPoint is one of the quickest ways to get it answered. The hard ethical questions or questions regarding the legality of certain things, are always best answered within a community with such a wide array of ranks, paygrades, and experience. We all have different views and interpretations of certain things - you can rarely go wrong with the majority opinion here.
