Can I sign up for 4 years on National Guard?

Last I checked it was a 6 year contract but it's been 8 years since then. I think you can do more but I'm not sure.

Sort of....by doing 4 years Guard you still owe 4 years to the IRR or ING. But you can do any amount of time you want if you're prior service and have done your initial enlistment

If you have no prior service you have an eight year minimum total obligation. Four years in the active drilling guard and four years inactive guard. You can do more active drilling but must do a minimum of four. After your eight year obligation you can do one year terms if you desire.

Last time I reenlisted in 2015 the contracts came in increments of 3, 6, and 9 or something like that.

Yes and no. No, because your very first initial contract will be 6 Active Guard and 2 IRR. Yes, because come re-enlistment time, you can re-up for 4.....if that option is available

Your initial contract is going to be 6 Active Guard, 2 IRR, but after that you can do a smaller extension or ETS if you don't think the Guard is a good fit for you.

1SG Tim Boyd is correct stating the eight year min. However, if you are coming from the AC (active component) check out NGR 600-200. That REG will lead you in the direction you are looking for.
