<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I am currently on a Tour of Duty ( I am a Reservist), but I want to switch my home reserve unit prior to returning. Reason is because I am trying to go to Kuwait in January, but I get home in October, which isn't much time to switch Units and get orders approved. I don't want to sit around for 3 months either , so I want to switch as soon as possible. Thank you for any responses.Wed, 17 May 2017 05:12:34 -0400Can I switch reserve units before I REFRAD?

<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>The answers is yes. Submit your form 4651. If your commander is willing to release you, there will be no issues.1SG Private RallyPoint MemberWed, 17 May 2017 06:21:31 -04002017-05-17T06:21:31-04:00Response by 1SG Private RallyPoint Member made May 17 at 2017 11:12 AM

<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>The answer is NO. You are assigned to the unit you are currently in until 90 days after REFRAD.<br />There are circumstances where the commander can waive part of this period, but under no circumstances can you be reassigned while currently activated. Such an action, if approved (it won't be) would result in your immediate release from active duty.<br />If it is time-sensitive, I would recommend you seek an early REFRAD from your current unit and then seek an expedited transfer if that is approved.1SG Private RallyPoint MemberWed, 17 May 2017 11:12:45 -04002017-05-17T11:12:45-04:00Response by SFC Private RallyPoint Member made May 17 at 2017 11:47 AM

<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Another option you can look into that Guard soldiers did all the time is just extend your tour. You just have to find an assignment you qualify for. You'll stay assigned to your home unit, but would be attached to whichever unit you'll be working for.SFC Private RallyPoint MemberWed, 17 May 2017 11:47:44 -04002017-05-17T11:47:44-04:00Response by 1SG Private RallyPoint Member made May 17 at 2017 6:00 PM

<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Just to add, I said yes because I have done it. I'm on the same boat. I'm on a tour of duty - ADOS-RC. While on this set of orders, I was able to switch to a different unit. Could be a case by case but it can definitely be done.1SG Private RallyPoint MemberWed, 17 May 2017 18:00:01 -04002017-05-17T18:00:01-04:00Response by LTC Charles T Dalbec made Sep 6 at 2018 8:47 AM

<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Call and or visit the unit and speak to the unit administrator/Commander. If you are DMOSQ and a MIB Asset chances are good if not it will not happen.LTC Charles T DalbecThu, 06 Sep 2018 08:47:02 -04002018-09-06T08:47:02-04:002017-05-17T05:12:34-04:00
