Currently at gunnery and I brought clp and lube for the 50cals. From the last armor they marked the LSA “50cals,Mk19”. The crews where having malfunctions and my 1sg is blaming me for using the LSA.I looked in the TM and yes it has a similar type but different NSN wasn’t sure if I was fully in the wrong or if what I’m doing is t as big as a deal then it is. Even tho the crews Solenoids are not in the best shape.

Personally, I wouldn't. Why? Because I've never heard of it, and I would always check with the -10 and Armorer to ensure I am using the proper stuff.

SFC (Join to see) - Ah. I didn't look at his profile so I wasn't aware of that. I feel a little silly now

I know the MK's have a completely different lube needed for them so I'd be weary about using anything that can be used for that and the M2. That being said it's been about a decade since I broke down either weapon system so parts and lubricants could have changed. SSgt Timothy Prevost?

Jon, you can use LSA, GMD, LAW & LAW T on all machine guns. LSA is the most common that is used. If it says lubricating semi fluid, your good. That's also not the reason your 50s had malfunctions. My sections just got rid of legacy 50s last year and I've had multiple issues with the new ones. If they are new guns, you need to break them in. if they aren't you need to have that armorer check timing. Did you all check headspace before firing?

Of course I made all the right adjustments so I believe it’s the blanks they running through or the RWS itself. But all yesterday there wasn’t a single issue that arose. Like I said could be the blanks as well.

Ohh you were running blanks lmao. Dude that BFA needs to be tight as hell which I'm sure you already made sure of. Ensure your gunners are tightening them consistently (prob every 100rds). It's also a closed bolt weapon system and blanks don't extract correctly all the time because the length is diff than regular Ball rounds. Blanks run notoriously bad in 50s and everyone who's fired them knows it. Your FirstSgt should know this if he's ever been around 50s shooting blanks prior. That LSA looks old as hell too but in theory it should still work. I'd also look at that MK 93 cradle and ensure the 50cal ammo cradle is properly set and locked on correctly. Also, sometimes rounds get caught up because the ammo can is not properly seated under the 50cal ammo cradle beveled lip which guides the rounds as the weopon cycles. This would disrupt feeding. Look up goonsup on instagram. There should be good examples there.

SPC (Join to see) - if it is blanks they are running through then it isnt your lube, blanks are notorious for causing malfunctions, jams, double feeds. BFAs can cause issues as well most weapons are gas operated so when ya put that addapeter on the end its almost like putting a suppressor on in my opinion. we had many issues with the m249 privates blasting blanks through them and wreckin my barrels, so much heat on the end it literally warped the barrels! worst one i had was a 50cal round that wasn't even extracted correctly the round expanded inside the barrel so when the extractor was pullin the casing out it ripped the back off. I prefer live rounds over blanks ANYTIME. good luck! "Sgt. Myers"

Using a lubricant that is not listed in the maintenance manuals will only allow others to blame you and that lubricant for the problem.

I'm a totally gun nut, and I've used all sorts of cleaning products and lubes, but eventually I started looking up the details and testing of said products and you know what.................

When the Military chooses a lube for a weapon system it is evaluating a range of conditions and lubricant requirements for said selection. What might be the BEST product for a specific purpose (lubrication for example) might not be the BEST product in ALL conditions.

It taught me that I should just use what is designated because I don't really know all the reasons why.

In the example I'm referring to, while CLP is not the best all around lube, it doesn't FREEZE!!!!!! So while something is better in once case it can be counter productive in another.

In your case, if you used the designated lube no fingers would be pointed at you, and even thought it might not be the lube what happened now is it stopped the Armorer from looking into other problems and he'll send you back out on the range with the problem still not fixed.
