Can I wear another units combat patch if I have the memorandum approved?

Are you able to wear the SSI of the unit you were temporarily attached to and received a hand copy memorandum stating you are “authorize to wear” their SSI?

AR 670-1, para 19-17:
If you were an individual or less than a company deployed and attached to that other unit, yes.
If your company was deployed, then attached to that other unit, then no, unless you have a memo approved by HQDA G1.

Fun Fact: The regular Army doesn't document SSI-FWS anywhere, we just wear them. Memos are a reserve and guard thing.

IAW AR 670-1 No. If you deploy as a company and above regardless if that higher element (BN, BDE etc..) deploys. The patch you wear on your left sleeve is the patch you get as your combat patch. Unless it's the patch of a a non deployable unit, state NG HQ, or one of the other stated echelons. The USMC patch is unauthorized also unless your were with them in OIF-1.

That memo signed by a Battalion, Brigade or Division commander doesn't out rank the general at the Pentagon that signed AR 670-1. There is an exception, but that permission has to be received from the approval authority of AR 670-1
