Can military doctors accidentally intimidate a junior enlisted? 2018-06-12T20:16:15-04:00 PO3 Aaron Hassay 3706667

I remember being intimidated by anyone with a Khaki on especially doctors, the ones you need to be honest with as much as possible. They are there to figure out what is going on with my body and find a way to fix it. You do have to remember that they are officers and pay proper respect. HOWEVER, you do have rights as a patient. I have in my career, fired doctors. I simply got up, said your no longer my PCM. One even had the gall to say I could not do it. I simply replied, patient rights and walked out. I went to the patient advocate, informed them what had happened, and they immediately changed my PCM. When I was a young Ensign in flight school, it was VERY intimidating working with the O-3 level Flight Docs...until one of them was nice enough to inform me she had been in the Navy for less time than myself...which allowed me to open up a bit.

I think it all comes down to realizing that we're all human beings after all, and (with some noted exceptions) Docs are pretty much medical professionals first, military officers second.
