Sgt Private RallyPoint Member 6617354 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Trying to keep OPSEC in mind, my command may try to force me to sell over 50 leave days before I EAS because they want me to stay at my duty station as long as possible. I get it, they are trying to cover their own backs, but I haven’t been stateside in around 15 months. The whole time I’ve been working at “deployment tempo”. I also had to defer my COT leave and it looks like they won’t let me take that either.<br /><br />To complicate this, I’m pushing an inter service transfer into the army. This could also potentially get denied because they don’t want to see me leave my duty station until I EAS. <br /><br />Anybody have any words of wisdom? I’m not trying to have a gap in service and I have a ton of family stuff to take care of stateside before I enlist into the army. I understand why my command has taken the position that they have, but I also have to look after my own career. <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>They can&#39;t force you to sell your leave but they are the approval authority to go on leave whether it be annual or terminal. Any surplus leave will be sold back automatically when you EAS.

<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>As I remember from the olden days, there is a statutory limit of 60 days that one can have on the leave books; hence the term, &quot;use or lose&quot;. Don&#39;t remember hearing of a unit being able to force you to sell, but as you allude that may be a pressure tactic to keep you in house. Unless they&#39;re up front about why the force i would look at completing the assignment, separate if it&#39;s time to, have already made arrangements with a sister service and personnel requirements to transfer.
