Can my family stay in government quarters after I leave on a TDY en route PCS?

Team,

I am currently stationed in Nairobi, Kenya. The State Department acts as our "Garrison" and we are on the same status as FAO's assigned to Embassies. I will attending Satellite ILE and will complete it TDY en route to my next assignment. I am requesting that my family stay in Kenya to complete their school year (approximately 4 weeks after I PCS) and then meet me at the next duty station.

The State Department is OK with my family staying in Government quarters, what I need to know is there anything in the JTR that covers this or can this just be added to my orders to orders and then settled once I arrive at my new post.

I know of some friends who have done this OCONUS to CONUS, but I was hoping that anyone could give me specifics on how to settle this. Appreciate your feedback.

I don't think this would fall under the JTR though I could be wrong.

I think most officers going to the short ILE course in route leave their family at the prior duty station.

If this is somehow wrong, I know a lot of wrong people.
