Can my Plt SSG prevent me from going to BLC because of an FTX? Is there a regulation that says otherwise?

If you are scheduled to attend BLC and it's posted in ATTRS, the platoon sergeant cannot stop you from attending. The S3 schools NCO should be able to advice you on the process. IG is always there to help as well.

If you have a report date, NCOES takes priority over just about anything.

If you have a report date, orders, and a confirmed seat....it's gonna take more than just your platoon sergeant keeping you from going. It's gonna take a whole lot more.

Am I wondering how a SSG got that authority? You must be very valueable if they can't have their FTX without you

I do not have a report date. Not sure how valuable I am but we have 2 more spc and pfc. Her deal is we also have an nco who has a date for alc and she doesn’t want us gone at the same time. I don’t see why I have to put a hold on my career progression for this. I tried to find a regulation but I can’t find one

I look at it like this. It is YOUR career, not theirs. Take control, use the open door policies that are in place if need be. There is no reason to postpone you just because of an FTX.

In my Day, NEEDS of the ARMY ALWAYS WERE FIRST. However, I would try to take care of my soldiers (All of them). Try to speak with your Platoon Sergeant on what the benefits to the unit will be from you attending the BLC course. If he still insist, tell him you understand and request to go up the chain of command. If the end result is your are going to the FTX. Do it with the Enthusiasm of a SOLDIER! Then go to the NEXT BLC CLASS.

No ATTRs info? No orders? Sorry, I won't sugar coat. There is no AR to protect you or to make your unit allow you do go to BLC. Many Soldiers have been in your place.

If you have a seat/orders, the PSG will be seeing the CDR and 1SG/CSM and it won't be pretty!

Is there a regulation that I can take to my command because this will be the third time in 6 months because of FTX and certifications , I’ve been promotable for almost a year now and have tried to find AR’s on this topic but to no avail
