Can my wife's credit be used on a VA loan?

My credit score is ok but not great, but hers is really good. Using a VA loan do they only look at the score of the person who has the VA loan or will they use both to get an average score?

when I bought my house they used both scores and combined income. however check with state laws as to what they put on the deed, joint tenants or tenants in common

On any loan, if a couple is applying, then both credit is considered, to include a VA loan.

SPC David Willis Both applicants credit is evaluated. The official score used for the loan file will be the lowest middle score (from the 3 credit bureaus) between you and your wife. For example, if your credit scores are 613, 622, 645 and your wife's scores are 712, 733, 746, then the loan file score would be 622...the lowest middle score. ok ratios to remember FHA 31% debt on home to income 43% total( all your bills) 41% va, 36 % fannie mae, have credit cards under 1/3 of lending value, if you dont have any get a secured card and dont use it for intangible items(gas food etc) have a car payment pay with cc and then immediately send payment to cc company. Do NOT wait 2 weeks pay it like you'd pay your normal payment, this establishes credit , usage and reliability. every 6 months ask for a increase and also a lower interest rate..... never accept the first person you reach can do much ,its the 3rd person or above and even then ask " is this the best you can do?"
