Ive gone into the recruiter and asked about getting any schools(airborne, air assault, etc). They said since im prior service they cant offer me any in my contract and that i just have to hope i get one. Is this true or just the recruiter not wanting to put in effort? <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Airborne can be placed in the contract. You’ll need to complete an airborne physical prior to shipping out (only school I can think of when signing the contract to enter in). Air assault will have to be done once you’re at your unit (like other schools).

<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>The only school you could get from MEPS is airborne and that is only likely if your contract is for Bragg.<br />Once commissioned, you will get schools. If you end up at Campbell you can count on Air Assault school.<br />If you manage to branch 15A, you&#39;re already getting a pretty cool badge.<br />And if you ask for Ranger school after BOLC, you&#39;ll probably get it.<br /><br />Just to be clear, you weren&#39;t &quot;screwed on your last enlistment&quot; in the Guard just because you wanted Airborne or Air Assault and didn&#39;t get them.<br />If you weren&#39;t in an airborne unit, you weren&#39;t getting Airborne school in the Guard, period.<br />There are less Guard seats for Airborne school than there are Guard Soldiers in airborne units who need school every year.<br />And if your state didn&#39;t get any Air Assault seats for the year, then your state wasn&#39;t sending anyone that year. If your state got a few seats for Air Assault, then your G3 probably allocated them based on OMLs that some of the BDEs submitted and some probably didn&#39;t. For example, CA is a large Guard state with an IBCT and 12000 Soldiers that gets 5 to 7 Air Assault seats a year, allocated to BDE OMLs and BWC winners.<br /><br />Army schools are a finite number of seats for generating the required capabilities in the right units, it&#39;s not Burger King.
