SGT Private RallyPoint Member 6764297 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Im supposed to report to my next duty station (that I reupped for) at the end of July and my unit is sending me overseas on deployment at the end of April, my wife just gave birth and had a complicated delivery. She won’t be fully recovered until June. (We have 4 kids). So why so why fly me over for such a short stay? I don’t get it... Can someone explain to me why my unit is deploying me 3 months before my report date for my PCS? 2021-02-21T04:39:51-05:00 SGT Private RallyPoint Member 6764297 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Im supposed to report to my next duty station (that I reupped for) at the end of July and my unit is sending me overseas on deployment at the end of April, my wife just gave birth and had a complicated delivery. Check if you’re fenced in for this deployment too..stay strong brother Response by SGT Private RallyPoint Member made Feb 21 at 2021 4:43 AM 2021-02-21T04:43:31-05:00 2021-02-21T04:43:31-05:00 SSG Laurie Mullen 6764319 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Some times they just want to bring every warm body they can. I don&#39;t know if it&#39;s for their stats or what. When I was getting ready for my deployment to Iraq in 2004, I left 10 JAN 04, the BN CDR was trying to bring a soldier who couldn&#39;t control his body temperature. Seriously. When I took over the section I discovered that one soldier had authorization to stay home and call in every day to let the unit know that he was still alive. Iraq would have killed him. The BN CDR finally came to his senses and left him on Rear D. Anyway, as SGT Park said, check with your 1SG. Then again they might amend your orders and send you to your new unit considering your situation Response by SFC Kenneth Hunnell made Feb 21 at 2021 5:34 AM 2021-02-21T05:34:43-05:00 2021-02-21T05:34:43-05:00 SFC Private RallyPoint Member 6764774 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Your unit can&#39;t send you when you&#39;re supposed to PCS. You should be placed on the Rear D UIC. You need to bring this up with your Career Counselor or else your CSM. Your unit isn&#39;t able to do an operational deletion or deferment either, that can only happen if you request it. On top of that you should be entitled to some postpartum leave as well. <br /><br />Complaining about it here isn&#39;t going to change anything, you need to get out there and fix it. If someone says no, then go up higher till it&#39;s fixed. Was a stop loss for your unit initiated? Were your orders deferred until after the deployment? There are a number of explanations for this. I&#39;m guessing they had you slotted for the deployment before you re-upped and nobody thought to make a correction. It happens but it is a quick fix. I was on a med board for a knee injury and while I was cycling through the medical process I got tagged with orders a few times because somebody in admin didn&#39;t update my profile. Don&#39;t stress it. Just work with your leadership and have all of your paperwork in hand to help things go faster/smoother Response by SSgt Christophe Murphy made Feb 21 at 2021 12:07 PM 2021-02-21T12:07:42-05:00 2021-02-21T12:07:42-05:00 CW3 Private RallyPoint Member 6765530 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>They are likely doing it because they need to keep their numbers up or they are just bad at their jobs and uncaring dicks. Put in for a hardship. Sounds like you probably have a good case. It will stop and push back orders. It rare to see something like this. This just might be a glitch or your unit may just need the numbers. I have seen that before. Some units are required to deploy a number to support a mission. They may have Soldiers that will deploy after the main body that will replace you but until then they may need you. But SFC Boyd is right. I would ask about this.
