SSDI converts to regular SSA retirement at one's full retirement age say age 67. I am 100% TDIU T&P with SMC (L) and SSDI adds up to over $6000 a month. My SSDI turns into SSA retirement at age 67. Go for both as it is worth it. And to question 3 the answer is no.
