Can the father receive BAH with dependents for a child out of wedlock?

I already receive Bah for single status in the states. I just had a newborn and finance DMPO told me I have to show proof of child support, such as an allotment, to obtain Bah with dependents rate. My girlfriend and newborn live with me... How does that make sense? They won't accept a notarized letter either. My name is on the birth certificate but that doesn't suffice. What gives?

Well, I would say that the easiest thing to do would be put a ring on that finger, she already lives with you, you have a kid, I am assuming that you plan to take her with you next time you PCS, then you get the whole kit and kaboodle and she has access to survivor benefits should they become necessary.

You should be able to fill out a 137-4 and/or court documented paternity to get the BAH.

You need to demonstrate proof by showing receipts for expenditures for the child like diapers, baby food formula, MD visits etc. It would not hurt to ask DMPO for a list of acceptable proof.

Wouldn't entering the child into DEERS do the trick? They would ask for the kids social and birth certificate that would prove dependency.

The child support ordered through the courts? if so, that should get you BAH with dependents for child support purposes only since you are leaving off base.
