Can the PT test change the turnaround point in the middle of the test making it valid for some people and not others?

This was a re-test as part of a school. The turnaround point was 1/8 mile long. The runners ran further than 2 miles but before the walkers got to the turnaround, they moved it closer (according to schoolhouse cadre). They are going to re-test the runners who failed but say the walkers failed and it's a valid PT test. I was dropped from the course along with one other due to this, I otherwise passed the other events. Is this legal?

The walk isn't two miles, so they would have different turnaround points

The 2 miles run track is that: a total of 2 miles from start to finish. If there are discrepancies the event is null. Having said that, if a decision to challenge it is in consideration, I would suggest a word of caution and be choosy on your battles.

This is one of those areas where I have no idea what the regulation says, but if there is a legitimate concern about the validity of something like an APFT it would be good faith leadership to offer another test.

Without having been present for this APFT, my instincts still tell me there is something amiss with this test. I would submit a challenge to the Cadre and/or the Commandant for the validity of this test.

It's hard to say not knowing all the specifics. Check the regs and check the run/walk course layout for the proper mileage. If you still have your doubts bring it up (TACTFULLY) with the support chain.

Alterations to a test "in progress" call into question the validity of the test regardless of whether everything was done correctly or not. Based on how you describe the course layout below (1 mile out, 1 mile back for runners, with 1/4 mile out 1/4 back additional for walkers), it would not have affected the walkers' time but that is generally irrelevant because the cadre "manipulated a test in progress."

Just because the outcome wasn't affected (for walkers) doesn't mean they were justified in not invalidating the test when they realized they had a bad course layout.

In the words of my belived Abigail Scuito: Something's hinky here. Defintely bring this up the chain. Absolute worst case is no change, and the drop from the course stands.
