SPC Private RallyPoint Member 4832028 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>My IRR is supposed to start in March 2020. My unit is Mobilizing in February. I have heard two things: 1. They can pull me because of IRR. 2: They can not pull me involuntary without signing an extension (or something). Does anyone know a for-sure answer? No-one in my unit is helpful enough to ask without getting told &quot;ask her then ask him&quot; and so on. *No I do not want to go, I am spending 6 months in Police Academy and Graduate in December, my heart is not in the deployment. Can they force me to deploy right before IRR? 2019-07-20T21:15:51-04:00 SPC Private RallyPoint Member 4832028 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>My IRR is supposed to start in March 2020. Wow....&quot;, or something like that...I only relate that story, as, in him relating it, I was actually quite envious...we&#39;ve got a uy in the Pentecostal church we go to, my wife is seriously devout, he&#39;d been USMCR when he was pulled for Shield/Storm, I also get envious of him, feeling like a &quot;chocolate soldier&quot; (a Brit expression) everytime the pastor has us to the &quot;flag thing&quot; every Meml Day, 4th, and Vets Day...now...I&#39;m not you, and I can completely fathom your ambition to go to the police academy, I get it, nor, obv, is it my place to tell you that you should just accept it, it&#39;d probably be really, seriously dangerous, which I entirely fathom...I can only relate, in all candor, my own emotions about such a thing...yrs ago, when my Dad had been USNR during Korea, he&#39;d been home on leave, in his Dad&#39;s store, my Dad&#39;s Dad, eating...a woman had walked in, he&#39;d said, seen him in his Navy blues, and said her son was deployed in Korea...my Dad said when she&#39;d asked why he wasn&#39;t there, and this is the God&#39;s truth, &quot; They know where to find me if they want me&quot;, or something like that...I&#39;ve always reflected on that, as I think, in retrospect, it always rather nagged at him, I could rather tell from his reactions, which I knew fairly well how to gauge...I just figured you might find those stories, if nothing else, at least germane...clearly, as I&#39;d said, I&#39;m not you, nor would I presume to say I was...I can only relate those stories, just to illustrate my thought process on the whole thing...God knows, I&#39;m not saying I&#39;m right, certainly, though, please realize, I do know that...the only time anything like that ever happened to me was when I&#39;d been in, I&#39;d been zonked in the BOQ, all of a sudden, there was a pounding on the door, I grabbed something to throw on, opened it, it was the O-3 I&#39;d been under at the time, saying to get dressed early and get into the office...I&#39;d asked why...he&#39;d said there&#39;d apparently been an actual alert, about what, I never found out...I said &quot; For real?&quot;...he said &quot;Yeah&quot;...I stood there dumbstruck for a moment, then said OK, got dressed, and went in...nothing ever happened with it, however, that was the one and only time it ever actually happened, it&#39;d apparently been a base wide thing, an actual base wide alert, apparently a national thing, though, as I&#39;d said, I never knew about what, I never asked, I was never told...I just figured I&#39;d relate that also, for whatever it might be worth, if only for some added perspective, if nothing else, ya know? Before you stress yourself out and give yourself a heart attack and/or stroke, just talk with your Leadership to figure things out.
