Can you be a warrant officer in the reserves? If so what are the years in service required to go warrant officer?

I have 4 years of active duty and about 3 years in the reserves. Would I be able to put in a packet for officer? I read online that the requirements are being a sergeant and having 5 years of service. Not sure if reserve time counts.

Yes it counts and yes there are Warrant Officers in the Reserves. Its my understanding once you get your WO contract, you can branch into active or Reserve.

Yes, there are Warrant Officers in both the Army Reserve and Army National Guard. Most require that you have one of the feeder MOS's, a certain rank, usually E-5 or E-6, and a certain amount of experience in the field. You can Google Warrant Officer Recruiting and find the requirements and which ones you may qualify to apply.
You can be any MOS and there is no TIS requirement for Flight Warrants, nor most of the new cyber Warrants. The Cyber Warrants will want civilian experience, however.

When I was looking at going down the WO officer path as a 35F SGT to 350F it was actually easier to direct commission into Quartermaster. I needed more NCO time in my MOS.

Each branch is going to have it's own little nuances for selection. The biggest one I see for you is I presume they are going to want at least 2 NCOER's with your packet.

You absolutely need to get under the wing of your MOS WO's and you're going to need a CW3 letter of recommendation anyway. Start now.

The best chance I see for success for going down any path of fficer or WO, some new branch or highly sought after specialization is laying the ground work now. Figure out what is needed and line your ducks up. It's much more painful using failed application after failed application to be your learning process.

When you look at time in service requirements, if you are in the Reserve Component then it refers to your PEBD. If you are Active Component it refers to your BASD.

You want to be a Warrant, ask a Warrant. Go check out the Warrant Officer Career College and find out. Every WO MOS has different criteria.

I suggest that you check the website to see you meet the pre reqs for the MOS. There should be more requirements than E5 for 5 years...... Also, find a WO in your command that can mentor you.
