Can you be barred for denying reenlisting? https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/can-you-be-barred-for-denying-reenlisting

I joined the Army NG after 3 years Active Duty. From 2014 to the middle of 2018 I was never sent to MOSQ for my new MOS (13M to 35F). While at AT I was offered a MOS slot if I extended for 1 year. That didn't happen and now they say I have to do 3 more years plus the time allotted for school. I told them I didn't want to do that so they are threatening to bar me from reenlisting.

I plan to go to the IG about this since this seems unfair to be punished for something that isn't my fault. But I don't know if there are any resources I can use to help me.

Any help will be appreciated. I do believe that a reserve component can bar re-enlistment or even discharge someone who is not capable of becoming MOS qualified for a unit vacancy, either by choice or disqualification. You may not have sufficient time remaining to attend AIT, if that is an MOS that is can only be awarded by a formal school. So if you refuse to re-enlist in order to meet the requirements to attend school, then yeah, they probably can bar you because you are not MOS qualified for a unit vacancy. But out of curiosity, why do you care about a bar to re-enlistment if you have no intentions of re-enlisting in the first place? It's one of the first stipulations in the reg. However, there are also service remaining requirements for MOS training. Whether or not you've extended or reenlisted multiple times, there is no way to circumvent the requirements to have a certain amount of time left on your contract after graduation, and that requirement must be met prior to going to training.

You don't have to worry about going to IG unless they actually attempt to bar you.
