Sounds like someone lost the score sheet... Are they nullifying the previous record test? Or are they maintaining the record tests and administering a diagnostic? If you read the regulation you'd know the time in between required. If you need to know why...
It can be a diagnostic. As a company commander, I expected that any unit leader down to fire team leader could tell me, without checking records, who was going to have difficulty passing the PFT. I also wanted to know who was not going to score 1st class.

I don't know about the Army, but in the Marines, PFT score was a significant part of cutting scores for promotion. Plus any Marine infantryman that couldn't score 1st class was more than likely a weak link. If they couldn't pass the PFT, and didn't have a valid medical chit, they were on a tailored fitness program that included a controlled and supervised diet; and after hours and weekend PT. 3rd class scores still got you remedial PT after hours on weekends. I was so mad I knocked a minute off my two mile run time. Of course it didn’t help that due to that anger I only did the minimums for the push-up and sit-ups. At the time I was a SPC/E-4, living in base housing with my wife. I get a call on Saturday morning; “SPC, you need to report fo the PT field for a record APFT!” My comments, “I took an APFT last month”, my NCO told me the paperwork was lost. So, I had an hour to get there and do it, not a happy trooper! SSG William Zopff III Sat, 25 Jul 2020 08:16:58 -0400 2020-07-25T08:16:58-04:00 2019-06-22T17:32:06-04:00
