Unfortunately in this day and age I am not surprised that a school district would send an eighth-grader home from school for wearing a t-shirt honoring fallen troops—because it had a gun on it. If it was some arbitrary interpretation of the dress code then the school officials were clearly wrong. He obviously is proud of his brother's service, and there is no reason to forbid this shirt any more so than you would forbid the wearing of a shirt from any other child's favorite sports team.
