Can you re-class and get the bonus without reenlisting?

I'm trying to reclass. I'm slotted to reclass to 12N. I change my mind and want 15E. My retention nco told me if I drop 12n I lose the re enlistment option to reclass. My question is can I voluntarily reclass and still get the bonus for that mos.

I reclassed from an over strength one (11b) to and understrenght (25s). I didn't get a bonus whatsoever. I signed 2016 if that is any help.

You cannot voluntarily reclass within your current enlistment obligation and still keep the bonus that way tied to that enlistment. It is essentially a breach of contract on your part. If you are involuntarily forced to reclass then the bonus is safe.

Lost a little what is reclass from 12n to 15e. When we re-enlisted, just raised our hand. We did receive a reinlistment bonus but never re class.
