Can you reenlist as 35L (CI) from Infantry? https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/can-you-reenlist-as-35l-ci-from-infantry

After taking the ASVAB today and scoring decently (76), my recruiter suggested that I look into the various intelligence MOS's. Now, I'm not interested in staring at maps all day or solely analysis but counterintelligence did stand out to me. You have to be 20 to enlist as CI and since I'm only 17 at the moment, I was wondering if I'd be able to reenlist after my first contract as a 35L - Counterintelligence Agent.

If it is possible, I'd like to know if there's a good chance of it being able to actually happen. I understand that some stuff is possible on paper but rarely actually happens in the Army. Thanks! There’s a very good selection rate for people who apply and you would very likely be accepted. Just make sure you have high line scores and you’re a good Soldier and capable of being granted a Top Secret clearance. Making plans and setting goals will help you throughout your life. No matter how good you plan, life happens, and that will force you to modify your plans, whether it is in the military or a civilian career. Good luck. I’m a former infantryman turned CI. Always do your best at everything you do. You’ll bring a unique perspective from the infantry to CI. Remember the packet is on you and the agent who recruits you doesn’t get anything out of it. You want to be CI you must be determined and driven at all steps. When I went CI there was no direct enlistment, though they may have brought that back. CI is a fun gig and can open a lot of doors if you are looking to do some interesting stuff. Just don't settle down because that will limit your ability/willingness to take full advantage of what the MOS has to offer. Sadly, the best parts of CI (IMHO) require you to be away from family. Ultimately, a big reason I left the MOS. SSG Frank Garvis Wed, 08 Jul 2020 08:20:43 -0400 2020-07-08T08:20:43-04:00 2020-07-07T19:46:58-04:00
