Have a feeling with everything going on that we will head back to Afghanistan eventually. Can you request a combat tour deployment? 2021-08-31T15:50:52-04:00 PFC Private RallyPoint Member 7233241

Currently on rehab status for a torn MCL and two fractures (all in my right leg) but as soon as my injury is healed am I able to request for a combat deployment? Units deploy, not Soldiers. In the USAR and ARNG you can join deploying units. But in the AD Army, you're either in a unit that is deploying or you are not.

We are not likely going back to Afghanistan. ISIS isn't strong enough to overthrow the Taliban and the Taliban aren't overtly aggressive toward us, and we don't have the stomach to try to overthrow the Taliban to prop up the previous Afghani government - again.
