Wow... Everything?

It's a miniature trident for one (Hat pin I think). Order of precedence is just wrong, and he has two National Defense ribbons. I don't even know what that first ribbon is, but there's only a few medals that outrank a Silver Star, and I'm pretty sure that isn't a US award.

Bar isn't centered over the pocket. Marksmanship medals aren't next to each other, and CAR is between them... (It's highest ranking Ribbon in the for Navy/USMC).

Navy trident is too small, Two national defense ribbons. I can't even begin to start with correct order and I could be wrong but is that the Vietnam service ribbon? I know it's not a navy achievement medal those are green and orange. If that's a Marine, which I sort of doubt, they are missing their marksmanship badge(s) and the alignment is pretty ratchet.

Nevermind, it's a Meritorious unit commendation ribbon. They also received a silver star, are a Navy Pistol expert, rifle expert (don't need badges then, my mistake.) Two global war on terror, served in afghanistan and for the life of me I can't find that yellow one at the very top left. Anyone know what that one is it's kind of irritating me now...

Just a question because I do not know, and I'm curious. This individual has Afghan and Iraqi campiaign medals along with a GWOT-E medal.

As I recall, when the Iraqi and Afghan medals came out, those awarded GWOT-E medals could trade them out one-for-one for the Iraq or Afghanistan medals.

As a strategic airlifter, I was eligible for both the Iraq and Afghanistan medals, but I chose to stick with the GWOT-E because I felt it more accurately reflected my role.

Can someone have all three? Frankly, I don't care as long as it's legal, but I am curious.

Holly crap, that is a soup sandwich. Navy and Marine Corps awards, all sorts of messed up and a Mess Dress Trident. The first award is the Marine Corps Reserve Ribbon for 10 years of service prior to Dec 1965 and obsolete.

The 4x4 of ribbons look out of whack. Never seen anyone where 4 on a row on the shirt. They are out of order. The ribbons are little high I think the rule of thumb is that they are a pencils width above the pocket or 1/4 of an inch. The trident he's wearing is the miniature trident which is only worn on the dinner dress or formal dress. Only Large insignia is worn on all other Navy combinations like the khakis.

Orientation of the Star on the ICM, and the length from the top of the pocket. Not to mention it is the wrong size pin and the order is jacked. Not centered on the pocket. Also if he wears the pin that small he will only wear the top 3 awards. There are also terrorists on the sides of the pockets. (Frayed sewing strings)

Short answer? Everything...

Too many ribbons across (Navy only does 3), ribbons are all kinds of in the wrong order, and the SEAL insignia is a miniature (aka wrong size).

I've seen the pic of this guy online and he's all kinds of jacked up AND is impersonating and officer (he's wearing Ensign bars).

The Navy Seal pin is too small?

Is that an Air Force BMT ribbon I see on the bottom rack?

I dont know about Navy Uniform regs, but, isnt the crease supposed to go through the center of the breast pocket?

Lots and lots of strings.

Last I checked, ribbon racks are three across (with some exceptions).

With all that... you'd think that you could at least straiten everything up and center everything

I want to say that buds is for the mess dress uniform. Rack is all out of order:
Should be Silver Star, Joint Service Achievement, Combat Action, Navy Meritorious Unit, Selected Marine Corps, National Defense Service, A'stan Campaign, Irag with bronze star device (right side-up), GWOT Expeditionary, GWOT Service, Navy Overseas, Marine Corps Reserve, Army Overseas, Navy Expert Rifleman, Navy Expert Pistol. Also has duplicate National Defense. Also went 4 wide should be 3. Placement is to high. Also has some lose cables on the pocket; needs to burn those off. Not even close to being real - the marksmanship awards big give away.

Depending on how the conversation went I might award them a jack ass ribbon with a black eye device.

Tons of things are wrong...first the trident looks too small.....the ribbons are all out of order and the campaign star on the OIF campaign ribbon is upside down....and the OEF campaign ribbon should have at least one star. I'm not familiar with Marine uniform regs, but if I was a guessing man I would say the fact that it's not centered on and too far above the pocket. Beyond the fact that they should only be three wide, the ribbons kind of look funky, like they were put on in a weird way. I'd have to look up the ribbon precedence to see if he got that right, I don't know it off the top of my head.

What gets me, after 9 years in the Army and the explosion of the intenet , is these jokers can't even get this remotely right? Then the audacity to go into public not caring that veterans and active/guard/reserve members are everywhere , like a church on every corner. As a Veteran I won't even wear my uniform for any ceremony , but these soup sandwiches think nothing of it. I guess pride and dignity to some is worth overlooking.

1. The Silver Star is worn junior to what appears to be the Michigan Recruiting Ribbon.
2. The Navy MUC is worn senior to the Joint Achievement Award.
3. The Navy Rifle Marksmanship Badge and the Navy Pistol Marksmanship badge should be side by side but are separated by the CAR.
4. Two NDSMs.
5. He's a SEAL (presumably) wearing the Army Overseas Service ribbon and the Marine Selected Marine Corps Reserve ribbon (he's been around!)

I do not know what the first ribbon - top row left is... It is not one of the 4 that precedes the Silver Star (Might be China Service Ribbon)

Top right ribbon is Joint Service Achievement - should have precedent over the Navy Meritorious Unit Ribbon to the left of it.

From top - 2nd row left is Combat Action which should precede National Defense and the Afghanistan Campaign Ribbon I do not know the ribbons on either side

Bottom Row Left is Marine Corps Reserve Ribbon then to the right Global War on Terrorism Service, then Global War on terrorism

Bottom row right is Navy & Marine Corps Overseas Ribbon

Okay first, I know that the Marine Corps reserve ribbon (the gold and red trim) isn't higher than a silver star. With that, that ribbon was issued between 1945 to 1965. So I really doubt the guy was in the Navy and Marine Corps between that time, then deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan. What a jack ass.

While I don't know Navy Uniform regulation 100%, I believe the Trident is too small - it should be a full size trident I think - though I might be wrong on that... Secondly, and more importantly, his ribbons are either upside down and also all whack... The star on the GWOT-SM indicates upside down, but the order of the ribbons is ALL wrong... marksmanship ribbons are the lowest in precedence (the dark blue ones), he's got two NDSMs - and if that's the case, there should only be one ribbon with a star to indicate second award. So - ribbons are completely screwed up - I'd say "poser" or "stolen valor" for sure!

Okay, I am not Navy, but even I know that the miniature trident is a no go on that uniform. Ribbons are not centered over the pocket and too high above the pocket flap. There are probably several issues here, but there are two things I notice right off the bat. 1) there are 2 NDSM ribbons. If this person has actually been awarded this medal a 2nd time, a brass star is affixed to it instead of adding another one to the stack. 2) order of presedence appears whacked up.

Top to bottom, left to right:

1) USMC Reserve, Silver Star, Unknown can't find it, Joint Service Achievement Medal
2) NDSM, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Another Unknown can't find, Yet Another Unknown can't find.
3) Unknown again, Iraq Campaign Medal (2), NDSM, Army Overseas Service Ribbon
4) The only ribbon I can locate on a chart is the bottom-right, Navy and Marine Corps Overseas Service Ribbon.

Several unknown or unfound ribbons in this stack but I definitely do believe that first one is way out of order sitting right there. ;) And I've never heard of a Marine with a SEAL Trident, but perhaps it is possible this guy was an inter-service transfer. I'm sure it is possible there might be a Navy SEAL somewhere who would want to transfer to the Marine Corps...I don't think it is likely but I suppose it would be possible. Have we indeed established this guy is supposed to be a Marine?

Ribbons not in order of seniority. Should have only one National Defense ribbon. If a 2nd National Defense Medal is rated there should be a small star attached to a sth single ribbon. I would think there would be a Good Conduct Award with these ribbons. Don't know if this is a Marine or Naval uniform. If Marine there wouldn't be a Trident unless he has prior service as a Navy Seal. Ribbons do not appear to be centered over the pocket. I have been retired from the Marine Corps for 20+ years and do not recognize a couple of these ribbons, i.e. the yellow one top left of the Silver star ribbon.

As Bugs Bunny used to say: "What a Marooon!" I would love to schedule this guy as the guest speaker for our next VFW meeting and see what kind of shape his "uniform" and "decorations" would be in by the end of the day. Apparently the guy couldn't even be bothered to go on line and find out the correct order of precedence or the proper way to wear them (and which ones were obsolete - unless he's about 95 years old and been in for at least 60 years). As someone else pointed out, you don't wear two separate National defense Service Medal ribbons and certainly not in disjoint locations on the clearly over-sized (four vice three) ribbon bar.

Well, like everyone else I saw the duplicate ribbons Not being in the marines I cant speak on order of precedences. I do know that in the Air Force, the ribbon rack would be lower, butted up against the pocket. There would be no space between the pocket and ribbons. Also after scrolling down the page and seeing the full picture..... OMG what a fake this guy is!!! Only thing he has going for him is that he is good at being a LOSER. I could be wrong, I have been out of the military for a while but I also don't remember the services ever using planted pants as seen in hid photo below. Another give away. First of all the ribbons is all wrong it looks like he just threw his shit together in the dark. second it looks like he has mixed ribbons from the navy and marine corps but I am not sure if that is valid considering the marine corps is under the department of the navy. There is no cardboard backing to make the ribbons flat on the uniform. The ribbon placement on his uniform is way to high and not even centered properly. He has IP's all over. So my final conclusion is either this is a complete shitbag or someone with stolen valor.

Besides the order being effed up, because I am sure it is...let me take a stab at this: 1: Irish pennants galore. 2. Ribbons are not 1/8" above pocket. 3. Ribbons are not centered over pocket. 4. The iron fold is supposed to CENTERED on the pocket. The Trident looks like a mini.....the star needs to have the point facing up...it is down. Combat Action Ribbon definitely takes higher precedence than most of those other ribbons...push-ups comes to mind, I smell lots of freaking Body builders for this clown.

The trident is not the correct size for that uniform, the Robbins are from different branches but the ones that are navy are not in the correct order. Hopefully an actual seal will bump into this guy and change his way of thinking. If you want to sport a uniform with decorations, go earn them.

He has a Silver Star but also something of a higher precedence. He is wearing two National Defense Service Medals. His rack is all screwed up and purchased from a surplus store.

Entire ribbon rack is upside down, the campaign star gave it away. He has an Army overseas service ribbon and the order of precedence is a soup sandwich. The edges of the rack are also not lined up. This looks like crap and he needs to punch himself in the face.

This would appear to be a US Navy Khaki uniform....though any SCPO or 1SG or Drill Instructor/Sergeant would find plenty wrong just with the press, loose strings/threads etc. Since the individual starts the rack wearing a US Navy SEAL trident, one could assume the individual was trying to mimic an Sailor...which goes to hell with the first ribbon worn (Marine Corps Reserve Ribbon), an obsolete ribbon, at the top of the rack. Even had the individual served in the USMCR he would know that a reserve ribbon does not top the precedence chart. This is followed by a Silver Star, Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation, Joint Service Achievement Medal, the first of two copies of the National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Navy Rifle Marksmanship Ribbon, Navy and Marine Corps Combat Action Ribbon, Navy Pistol Marksmanship Ribbon, Iraq Campaign Medal w.bronze star device, NDSM 2, Army Overseas Service Ribbon, Selected Marine Corps Reserve Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Navy & Marine Corps Overseas Service Ribbon. So, dude would have to be at least 85 years old, and served at least 50 years in the Marine Corps, Navy and Army, to have earned the obsolete first one (MCRR) and the 21st century ones, never mind they are all out of precedence from the git go, regardless of which way the rack is oriented.

I will add that the campaign ribbon has a star on it that is up-side down as well as all the other things - ribbons misaligned and out of order, stacked four to a row instead of three (does the Navy allow for that? I didn't think they did, but then again, I've never seen it in practice), no campaign star on the OIF ribbon, no stars on the National Defense Service Medal (should have had at least one), wrong size Seal badge, and probably missing other Navy ribbon devices, such as an "E," among others. In the Army, we call this "soup sandwich."

The dress greens, blues, we're the two of the uniforms I hated wearing for whatever reason; ie , pass and review, dining in, funeral, what ever, I couldn't wait to get back to the barracks and get it off, although I had my share of awards and medals it seemed like was being judged based on the ribbons on my chest, and I am not one to bolster my achievements ,no offense to the men and women who have earned there own awards it's just my personal feelings, I have been out for over 20 years but I still support all the branches of our military God bless them all.

Four abreast, not centered over pocket, too high above seam, not in correct order, not "dress right dress" (not uniformly straight), loose strings around pocket and I don't think they wear a white tee shirt with that dress shirt. Not sure if the Trident is the proper size, but I was Army, so cut me some slack if I missed anything. I would guess a "wantabe".
Anyone that impersonates a veteran or active member of the armed services should be punished to the FULLEST EXTENT to the law. To me, it's not different than impersonating a cop, judge, or doctor!!!!

There is no way that the person that donned that rack ever served in the Military. On my first hitch, when I was in the Navy, I knew a PO1 Instructor that got busted for wearing awards that he was not authorized. Even some awards issued in 1 branch are not authorized on others, such as the Airman Basic Training award was not authorized on the Navy uniform. And the 2 NDSM's ... just wow! Hopefully someone shamed that poser into stopping that crap!

Aside from two National Defense Service Ribbons, they have an Army Overseas Service Ribbon. Top right, I'm not sure, but that's a Chinese Service Medal, which by order of precedence should be below the Silver Star. The Marksmanship medals need to be at the very end. Question is, what's right? First thing that struck me was the miniature Trident on the CNT uniform! Then the ribbons are a clusterf$&k! Four ribbons on a row? And the first ribbon is the Marine Corps Reserve ribbon, which clearly would not take precedent over the Silver Star. The rest of the order of precedence is also fouled up.

So I am not familiar with the other services ribbons, but for sure there is the Air Force BMT ribbon and what looks like the state of Louisiana (state ribbon). I mean wow!! I do not understand these people. I really don't. We don't get a lot of perks or anything and I have to say... except for talking to the children I meet and bringing smiles to their faces... Ribbons are all out of order and to high above the pocket. I'm pretty sure in the Navy you can't go 4 across (only Marines). I think the star upside down on the Iraq campaign medal. The trident is a miniature, and should be a full size. If this person were a real SEAL, they'd be squared away!

Two things stand out without consulting a awards guide to confirm the order. 1) the ribbons are not aligned; they step up and to the left (facing the picture). Two, the bronze star on the ICM should have a point facing straight upwards, not down. This is what I can tell at a glance.

The very easy discrepancies... Navy is only 3 wide, order of precedence is all hosed up, utilizing the small dress warfare device rather than the full size required with this uniform, Irish pennants need to be trimmed, 1/4" over pocket and centered. And finally, besides several not being Navy/Marine Corps ribbons (from other services?) the ironed seam seems off. And what's with the upside down star and not lined up on the sides?

Wow! That's a Marine Corps Class "C" blouse. While it's possible for a Marine to have been a former SEAL, it's very unlikely.

But, the ribbons are four across. They should be three across. They are not in the correct order. The Marine Corps Reserve Ribbon is ranked higher than a Silver Star! The star on the Iraq Campaign ribbon is not oriented correctly.

The gap between the pocket and the ribbon set is too large. The ribbons are not centered on the pocket.

And, lastly, if a Marine were somehow authorized to wear the SEAL "Budweiser Badge," they would have to wear the LARGE insignia in a Class C uniform. The small insignia is only for formal wear - i.e. used whenever the uniform requires mini-medals. There is no instance when the small insignia is worn with RIBBONS.

I'm going to give this a shot...alright here we go haha:

1. for one in the original picture he is dressed like a marine. so apparently this guy is a marine Seal.

2. 4 ribbons to a row seems legit :P

3. is that 2 national defense ribbons? LOL!!!

4. Not navy but according to others the trident is too small

5. The star is upside down (I would say the whole stack is upside down, but I think they need to be in order for it to be considered upside down)

6. I count 3 ribbons that do not belong on a navy uniform (unless he's served in the 1960s)

I can find numerous things wrong with them but half I don't know what they are, must be Chair Force awards from getting PTSD from the video screen in Colorado.. Guy has Marine uniform with SWA ribbon and he is a Lieutenant?? I would have falcon punched him in the throat, not even asked him any questions.. Of course I'd go to jail cuz I'm supposed to know better but sometimes its just worth it.. Unless you were a "lifer" most Corpsman and Marines came back home, after 13 mos in combat with three medals. I respect those three ribbons (we did not get the medals) more than almost every other medal/ribbons. (except for MOH, Silver/Bronze Stars, Purple Hearts etc..) I understand there are a couple of others I might be eligible for now, but these three are on my DD-214. (oh yeah, I did get the bronze star & Marine Corps Combat device on my Vietnam Service ribbon. That said, this rack is totally screwed up...guess he needed an extra National Defense ribbon to fill in a missing space! This guy is a POS.

Ribbons should be centered above the pocket and touching but not over the seam. There should also be a .5 to 1 inch gap between the top ribbon row and the occupational badge, with the badge centered against the ribbons.

First and foremost not centered and looks sloppy and that's what someone who knows nothing about the military.
two of the ribbons are the same, which you can be awarded the same award mutiple times but that would add oak leafs, stars, barbed wire, or other distingushments to the award.
he has awards from different branches. it's just so much, i mean as a SPC if i saw this on any ranked member of any branch I would def have to voice my opinion and on top of that show him in BLACK AND WHITE Regulations to show him why he's wrong.

Sad part with these knuckle heads is placing the ribbons in the correct order of precedence is too easy. The easiest way is to have the place your order them from to do the work for you. If you are too cheap for that, they all offer FREE charts showing the correct order! Were I not so cheap, I would.

The ribbons are completely out of order of precedence. Navy does 3 ribbons wide, not 4. He has Army ribbons which, unless he transferred from green to blue, should not be there. He repeats the National Defense ribbon twice. The rack is crooked, off-center and probably not exactly a fourth inch above his pocket. The warfare pin is a miniature pin instead of the full-size pin (could this really be a Seal?). This has stolen valor, lack of attention to detail and scumbag written all over it!

Off-center, bent, dingy dirty way more than the required distance from the pocket to the rack. Also pretty sure some of those are not correct for wear. So if this is a Navy Seal, the four wide is not right unless he is not in . the Navy and is a former seal now in the Marines. Also that Trident is not correct it is a small dinner dress blue device not the full size worn on pretty much everything else....

So first off the 4 across is a no-go unless this is a a former SEAL gone Marine. Wrong order of precedence, wrong size Trident unless he was in dinner dress..with mini medals as well. Wrong alignment over pocket. Not the correct 1/4" above pocket....bag of ass all around. Also in this pic you would at least be able to catch a little bit of a glimpse of his rank on the collar...unless that is way off too...I would probably have a small aneurism if I saw this in real life.

First impression.. . .
Sea, Air, Land (SEAL) Warfare designator - miniature Pin. Not a Hat pin. . . it's the pin authorized for wear with miniature medals, as in Mess Dress / Dinner Dress Blues (in other words the Navy tuxedo). With this uniform "blouse" the full size Trident (aka Budweiser) Pin would be appropriate.

Ribbon Rack:
In my analysis, the majority of ribbons, whether authorized by USN or USMC is totally out of precedent. An example, beside the Silver Star as noted earlier. . . The Navy Marksman Pistol & Rifle Ribbon(s) should be together, and last row far left side.
That first ribbon is: China Service Medal
Instituted: 1940
Dates: 1937-39, 1945-57
Criteria: Service ashore in China or on-board naval vessels during either of the above periods
Devices: Bronze Star
Notes:
Medal was re-instituted in 1947 for extended service during dates shown above

For service in China during the periods just prior to and just following World War II, the China Service Medal is worn after the Navy or Marine Corps Expeditionary Medal and before the American Defense Service Medal.

The China Service Medal was authorized by the Department of the Navy on August, 23 1940 for members of the Navy and Marine Corps who served in China or were attached to ships in the area during the period July 7, 1937 to September 7, 1939. The second period was for those who were present for duty during operations in China, Taiwan and the Formosa Straits during the period September 2, 1947 to April 1, 1957.

The China Service Medal was designed by George Snowden. The medal is a circular bronze disc showing a Chinese junk under full sail with the raised inscribed words, “CHINA” above and “SERVICE” below. The reverse of the medal shows an American eagle perched on an anchor and laurel branches. On either side of the eagle are the words, “FOR SERVICE.” Above, in a semicircle is a raised inscription, “UNITED STATES NAVY” or “UNITED STATES MARINE CORPS” depending on the recipient’s branch of service. The ribbon is yellow with a narrow red stripe near each edge. If an individual served during both periods, a bronze three-sixteenth inch star is worn.

So basically, Steve McQueen's character in "Sand Pebbles" would be authorized to wear this medal/ribbon (provided he lived at the end of the movie. I think the Chinese shot him dead).
In this particular case. . . Completely BOGUS for this individual to wear. . . . (unless he was the inmortal "Highlander" there can only be one!)

Selected Marine Corps Reserve Ribbon
Established on 19 Feb 1939
Criteria: Outstanding performance and conduct during 3 years of enlisted service in the Marine Corps Selected Reserve.
Required 80% attendance at drills between 1 Jul 1925 and 24 Apr 1961.
From 24 Apr 1961 to present, 90 % attendance is required.
Initially called the Fleet Marine Reserve Medal. It was subsequently re-designated as the Organized Marine Corps Reserve Medal to conform to the provisions of the Naval Reserve Act of July 1, 1938, which changed the designation from Fleet Reserve to Organized Reserve. On September 4, 1984, General Paul X. Kelley, the Commandant of the Marine Corps, officially re-designated this award as the Selected Marine Corps Reserve Medal.
I'm thinking this ribbon shouldn't even be on this sailors uniform (unless he was a weekend warrior USMC prior to being in the Navy/SEAL Team. . . yeah, right).

During my 20 years active duty & 2 years Naval Reserve (weekend warriors); I'd see different personnel wearing the same ribbons. . . . and it seem the more one would see the same exact ribbons on folks. . . none of them were ever in the same place. . . . Especially when full Dress was required where Service Ribbons (no medal) were worn with full medals. When I was the training Petty Officer of one of my commands, I went to a Lesson Topic Writing Course of Instruction. It was required we research authenticate, write and present a General Military Training Lesson Topic Guide. I went with wearing Pins, Badges, Ribbons, Medals, Miniature Medals and/or a combination of all the above. While staying on top of the new medals/awards being issued by DoD, I can pretty much "read the resume" of a service member's chest. It has served me well while doing Patriot Guard Rider Missions for the past (almost) 10 years.
I wonder if that Lesson Topic Guide ever got out of my Chief's training folder for Navy or DoD wide distribution?

Ummmmmmm....everything? I've said this before concerning other instances of stolen valor, but you'd think that these people would do some SERIOUS research before going out in public and trying to impersonate a military veteran, and even more importantly, a special operations military person. He's wearing all sorts of ribbons, all completely out of order, devices on upside down, multiple of the same ribbon. He's wearing the SEAL trident that belongs on mess dress/tuxedos. "Hmmm, I think I'll put this riiigggghhhht....HERE! Yeah, that looks good. It doesn't matter if there's one over here that looks like it. It'll look less obvious like that. Yup, that's it!" If you're gonna go out and do it, you might as well look up the order of precedence and go to the local Army/Navy store to get the proper uniforms. I just don't understand the serious lack of understanding and the lack of attention to detail to the point where my 9-year-old son could tell you it's wrong. What a shame.

After scrolling through the responses, I really don't have anything new to add. All of the technicalities have been pointed out. It's pretty obvious that someone is trying to play "soldier boy" (or "Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea") and doesn't know much about the military or how to wear the uniform. I realize that Stolen Valor is a serious topic, but I will say this: there were some very very funny responses and some hilarious graphics. A few had me rolling.... Two National Defense should be one with bronze star for Desert Storm. Rifle and Pistol are always last and at left. Seal emblem is wrong size. Order of precedence is way off. From khaki uniform could be Navy but Army ribbons are not in precedence order either. Dates of ribbons (time frame alloted for award indicates a 40 year veteran without good conduct or any commendation. FMF ribbon for chaplain or corpsman takes precedence over Nat'l defense. As of 1992, when I retired, chaplains were "advised" not to wear markmanship ribbons. No indication of final status of markmanship in rifle or pistol which means ribbon worn illegally per Naval regs..

In addition to what everyone else has covered, if this person is indeed a member of the Navy, he's got them 4 across instead of 3 (max on one row is 3 ribbons), and he's wearing a miniature warfare device, which is ONLY authorized with dinner dress & worn with miniature medals. Navy ribbons aren't required to touch the top of the pocket; 1/4" spacing ABOVE the pocket, though that is looking closer to 1/2".

God everything is wrong with this. Two National Defense ribbons, mixture of different service ribbons, order of precedence is out of order, 4 ribbons in a row, seal trident on a marine and it’s miniature one. Pants, shirt, cover and I am sure I am missing more things. He doesn’t really look like a seal. Probably just some kid playing too many video games. I like the two NDSMs and the itty-bitty trident. Wouldn't want to be too austentatious with being a SEAL and all.
I haven't seen too many individuals with nothing between the Silver Star and the JSAM. No Commendation, No MSM, no BSM, no Air Medal. Just a NMUC.
Then there is the Marine Corps Reserve Service Medal on top. Dude must have been in the Corps back in the day, and decided that the time in the USMCR was worth way more than that Silver Star.
That Toys for Tots drive must have some story...

It's fun to laugh at the variations and try to imagine what service must have been like for the imposter. Keep in mind that most examples are from mentally I'll and cognitively delayed individuals. Often it is a perverse act of hero worship. Unless they are seeking official benefits (not 10% off nipple rings at Hot Topic or shitty coffee from BK) from the mischaracterization, than it is protected speech under the same Constitution we all swore to defend. Without intent to defraud, it is not Stolen Valor.

For starters! NO GOOD CONDUCT RIBBON, Pistolman and Rifleman should be the lowest priority, bottom row last ribbons. I have to look up some of those ribbons, they came out after I retired in 89 from the NAVY. With a ribbon stack he should have at least 1 star on a good conduct.

Ribbons are a surplus store mixed up mess. Senior ribbon shown looks like the obsolete China Service Medal. Miniature SEAL badge worn with full sized awards. If you are gonna be a poser, research what you plan to wear before hand and have a cover that isn't completely blown to hell by a fresh out of basic/boot person.

Yea this individual is not in the military at all we can all agree to that right now.... aside from ribbons out of proper order and the mix of branch ribbons the spacing between ribbon rack and top of the seam of the pocket is off as is the badge from the ribbon rack - poser or stolen valor either or , but definitely lost in the sauce

Is this some "stolen valor" example of a Navy fraud? I've not been in since 1998, but I know when you have two NDSMs, something is wrong. You start a process of what's wrong. . .and the process might be lengthy.

Definitely not 1/8 inch, that's for sure. As an Avionics Instructor in the Marines I had a young sailor as a student, just out of boot camp, who had a ribbon rack you wouldn't believe (literally). When asked how he got them, he responded, "At the PX." He thought you could just buy them, and he picked out the ones he liked.

Well I didn't belong to the Marine Corp but as a former drill instructor I do see a few things that are not correct. 1. Has 2 good conduct metals, which is wrong it should be 1 with a oak leaf for #2 also it shows the navy seal badge so I do not know if they are a navy person or a marine corp person. other quick look the ribbons are not center above the center of military crease plus for being in a top tier group his uniform looks pretty bad

Several things. One, that is a Marine Corps shirt not Navy. Two, Navy ribbon racks are always three across, not four. Three the SEAL trident is the miniature version, only worn on dinner dress with mini medals. Four, there are two National Defense ribbons. Five, the marksman ribbons are out of order. I could go on, but I’ll stop there.

Army lost, unless prior service and that yellow ribbon doesnt have presence over the silver star. Also wearing a mini trident, the alignment for the entire rack is off. Evidence by the end of the last ribbon.

The ribbons are not in the correct order of precedence. No Navy SEAL has the Marine Corps Reserve Ribbon - not issued since 1958. Two NDSMs. No star on the Afghanistan Campaign Medal. The SEAL badge is miniature size. I don't know if the poser is pretending to be Navy or Marine Corps but either way he is wrong. Unless you have me $50 for giving the correct precedence order I am not going to get into more details.
