When filling out your leave chit, make sure to check off separation as a type of leave and put your details in the comments section "Respectfully request permission to take 60 days of leave for separation of service and employment oppertunites." Something like that.

Make sure your CoC signs it. It will have to go to your O-6. That's what I did when I requested SEP leave when I was active. Usually response time is within a week to a month, depending what the command is doing (Mine was a month since I was on deployment). I submitted the leave form with the packet, originally requesting 60 days. It has been approved by the LTC and Commander. When I submitted it, throughout the time my ETS balance was 45 days. Currently, I have 38.5 but of course, these days reflect until my original ETS date, which in February. My new ETS is in September. Why did they approve my leave? Since I have 38.5 that amount is considered until febuary. So wouldn't I have 22 days technically if my balance is 38.5 currently with a current acural of 17? My orderly room told me I had to redue this but I'm still confused as to why it got approved with the control number in the first place.
