Can you transfer from active duty Army to active duty Navy in the middle of an enlistment contract? 2019-01-05T02:18:55-05:00 SGT Private RallyPoint Member 4260647

Especially if it's a first contract. You owe whatever time you agreed to in your contract. You would need to get a DD Form 368, Conditional Release, signed by the Army. This is not an easy task. The way the Army looks at it is you signed a contract and made a commitment to them for 8 years. Once you complete that obligation you can go into another Branch of Service.
You can try though. Good Luck! Yes, it is possible. No, you do not need to wait till enlistment. When you say "middle of an enlistment" that would lean heavily into the NO category.
Unless you have some kind of special skill, or are being offered a "too good to be true" deal on the Navy side, it would be really hard to get the Army side to sign off on it. After all I believe you have to finish contract out to enter into another.
