Thank you for your responses. So do you think that the entire line of unit patches will be released simultaneously with OCP? I am in Air defense and not many of the units deployed to Afghanistan or Iraq so finding my unit and deployment patches in OCP/Multicam is proving imposible.

If the subdued patches are not available, I'm sure a command policy will dictate appropriate policy regarding patches. Lord knows command policy dictates everything else!

No. You may not mix and match patches or any items intended for ACUs. Only items that may be worn with both uniforms are t shirts, boots and belt and those too must be the same (tan with tan, coyote with tan 499 shirt).

There isn't anything saying you can't mix the patches. Most comments are personal preference. Yes, it doesn't look right, but there isn't anything saying you can't do it.

You are not allowed to mix and match ACU uniform items with the new OCP uniforms. Please refer to the link I attached for changes and timelines pertaining to the new uniforms.

Operational Camouflage Pattern Army Combat Uniforms available July 1

The Army announced today the release of the Operational Camouflage Pattern in Soldier uniforms. The Operational Camouflage Pattern will be available for purchase in select Military Clothing Sales Stores beginning, July 1.

I have not read anything regarding mixing the patches. Patches are available for sale at several online retailers and range from 4 to 7 dollars. A young Soldier is going to spend 50 dollars or more prepping his uniform for wear. A Private's clothing allowance only goes so far.

If you do not have a patch to wear, then you would not wear the new uniform until you do. ACU pattern is authorized till Oct 2019.

I can't start a conversation. This kind of relates. Is it okay for a honorably discharged veteran to wear his BDUS on Veterans Day or 4th of July? I have my woodland BDUs they aren't authorized anymore so I don't see how I can be confused for active duty. Plus to be safe I'll make sure to wear my army veteran hat and carry my VA ID. If I was going to pose I sure as hell would make myself a higher rank than PFC the rank I separated at! LOL.

So no, you cannot mix and match patches, name tapes etc.

I have an ACU IOTV but OCP name tags and rank. Is there any milper message stated you can or can not mix those items? That's something I can not help

The Army sure could save individual Soldiers a lot of money on patches if the just stopped changing the color shade of patches every time they change from DCU to ACU to Multi-Cam. Maybe in garrison we should just wear the colored unit patches just like Soldiers from WWI to early Vietnam Days did when in Garrison. With the US Flag already in normal Color it wouldn't look that bad! What are you supposed to do to get the right shade FWTS patch when it's from a Desert Storm era or inactivated unit i.e. 5,6,7,8,9 ID; 2,3 AD; 7th Corps and now 5th Corps). Just a thought!

No, and a lot of Soldiers out there need to look at the regulation on how to wear the patch also... Pretty close to half the Soldiers around Fort Bliss wear their patch all the way at the bottom of the OCP uniform even when there is no pocket flap.... I have seen all the way up to BDE Commanders wearing them like this..... I really don't feel like spending my day correcting people's patches and annoys the crap out of me when I have to...

Are we still allowed to wear the red white and blue flag patch or does that have to be subdued ocp as well? I'm referring to Garrison in the United States and not deployed abroad.
