Heard Germany was open so my question is what process and how hard is it to cancel orders and get Germany for new assignment? Change duty assignment after signing contract but no orders to station overseas, how difficult? Is this possible? 2016-07-04T08:40:23-04:00 SGT Private RallyPoint Member 1686801 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Just Reenlisted for Fort Carson for 4 years, signed contract but no orders yet. Branch cannot adjust retention requisitions. Definitely doable though. If not then you need to contact your branch at DA and find out when they are planning on cutting your orders and giving you an assignment date. If there is still nothing in the works you should be able to renegotiate with your branch manager for the Germany slot. A deletion of a retention assignment requires a 4187 endorsed through your command. Once your reenlistment assignment is deleted, contact your branch for the assignment you want now. Keep in mind there are rules that the branch must follow that differ from what retention can do. The reason retention will not entertain changing your assignment is because if every Soldier that changed their mind after they reenlisted about their location of choice, HRC retention would spend all their days trying to accommodate all the changes, it is not practical. The bottom line is see your career counselor.
