Changing the Pledge of Allegiance

A college professor in Colorado made students recite a revised version of the Pledge. No... he didn't just take out the 'Under God' part. He added a bunch of personal opinion based on his perceptions. I am not challenging his right to do the revision as I see it as protected under the freedom of speech.

My question is this: Should he have the authority to force his students to recite it?
