Chaptered out APFT failure! Help?

If you were to fail a PT Test and they say you are getting chaptered out... Is it true that I can come back 6 months later and join again if I want to and just take a APFT test and past then I go straight to my until because I finished school and I'm MOS qualified? Is that true? Please help me

You may have also been barred from re-enlistment. Check with the recruiter.

Not so much at least not in the Navy. APFT is a standard and it was not met. Sorry for your luck dont listen to Sea Lawyer's go talk to legal or dispursting they will lead you in the right direction

You should not have spent a dime on anything. The Army does a great job in supplying those basic issue items. Usually you will give them back unless it directly touched your skin. i.e. gloves, under garments/poly pros, etc. If you dont have these items, then you lost them at your own fault and will have to pay for these items. So, to your original question, No! Absolutely not. There is nothing that should have in your possession that is military gear or clothing that you, yourself purchased. Anything other than that such as personal hygeine products and civilian attire, is at your own discretion. The Army did not make you buy them although they seem mandated and neccessary, they are not. Everything is provided for your use. (Except personal hygiene products. Those are a must and are considered personal and expendable.) You are required to replace those; for your own health and welfare.

First, I didn't know that you get chaptered for a APFT failure in AIT. In mine, there was this guy that failed 3 times, we graduated and he stayed there until he passed the run. Also, in every graduating platoon there were soldiers "hold over" because of APFT failure. That's something different for me in my short career.
Second, I really hope that you're not talking about you. Must be hard all the judgment about how you failed without having at least the credit that you TRIED when the 75 % of the american youth can't join.
Third, the answer to your question is a simple no.

I doubt it, but you shouldn't have gotten into the situation in the first place, especially at this stage. In whatever endeavor you do next, I'd suggest you work hard to stay well above the standard; instead of not meeting it.

On the flip side, if you have not met minimum time in services post enlistment and having received a bonus, you may owe the government money

Good lord, I hope not. As a matter of fact, they should make them pay back the money spent carting their happy-a$$ across the country on the government dime just so their lazy carcass could fail something that tests if you're capable of breathing (at the 180 level). Think of all the money spent on someone...just so they can fail at AIT. That's a lot of chow, ammunition, gas, clothing, heating, water, etc, etc. I bet if they counted it up someone would owe the government quite a bit of money.

The Soldier won't be reimbursed for anything he bought (ribbons, socks, etc.), and almost everything that was issued to him will be returned to CIF. Get his clothing record from AKO and look at the "ETS" column, and that will tell him what needs to be turned in.

I notice that you've posted multiple questions regarding getting chaptered for APFT failure. Whether you need the information for yourself or a buddy, I recommend that you select one or two NCOs here on RP who can offer you mentorship on this matter, then tell him/her the whole situation from beginning to end to see if there's any way to help you or your buddy.

I knew a couple of people in AIT who got chaptered for failing weight or APFT, and neither received the kind of 1-on-1 counseling and mentorship that they would have received once they got to their unit. Try to find that mentorship here on RP... that's one of the reasons we're here.

Those are issue items. Most of them you'll keep, some you'll probably have to give back. You shouldn't be "reimbursed" for anything because at no point did you spend money on issue items.

My nephew got "chaptered out" for PT failure after being in just over 2 years. He was given multiple opportunities to improve and still could (would) not pass the run. I suspect he was just looking for an excuse to get out and PT failure was the least painful option. He got a General Discharge, Under Honorable Conditions and still qualified for 70% of his GI benefits.

If you are able to obtain a waiver for your RE code (which will be RE-3), you may re-enlist in any component. Your discharge will most likely be Honorable, unless you have a long history of misconduct. For many in this situation, there will be no wait period to re-enlist, especially if trying to re-enlist into a reserve component. Upon re-enlistment you will be assigned to a unit, as there will be no need for retraining if you are already MOS qualified.
