I continue to have chest pain issues since leaving the Army back in 2004. I have had heart stress test and doctors do not seem to know what the issue is. Does anyone else get a knot in their mid-chest area that is highly painful?

Yeah, Like the others are saying, Upper G.I. testing is in order. I was carrying sub-lingual nitro tablets for about 6 months before they finally figured out it was GERD and Ulcers.

Have you had a barium swallow or Esophagoscopy to check for ulcers, pyloric spasms, etc.?

No, they have told me muscle spasms, but I have had those before, and this does not feel the same!

I have taken the Barium Swallow and the Esophagoscopy from the VA. The Pain in the chest is center chest a little to the right and comes on suddenly. It feels as if there is a tight muscle and when I raise my hand above my head and use my other fist to lightly pound the knot it goes away.

SGT Loren Hammons interesting symptoms. In some ways the way you describe it sounds like some sort of muscle spasm. Other ideas would be costocondritis or a wild stab could be gall stones. Sounds like you need to continue to look for the root cause, maybe look for another doc.
