Children's television networks for immigration debate?

Is it me, or should children's television networks stay out of politics? I get that there needs to be a dialogue about immigration reform but why should I have to see it where I go to get my fix of SpongeBob?

I get it... I can already hear some of the responses: "change the channel..., free speech..., why SpongeBob?.., regulate what your kids watch..., etc."

Weigh in and let me know if I am off my rocker for being bothered by what I feel is "spoon feeding" the debate by way of our children...

I'd look at who owns that channel and what other channels they own as well. If I remember correctly they regularly have a kids choice election for president and guess who wins.

I agree with you, LT Clint Davis. Children's TV should stay out of politics. This could easily be a case of "starting 'em young." Let the indoctrination begin. Then, when the kids grow up, they'll have a political agenda imprinted on their psyche.

Just weighing in. I do not need to turn on a tv show for my daughter and have to worry about political spamming. Do I want her to be educated on the topics at hand of course when she's mature enough. But I think it should come from valid sources and not children's networks

I do not believe that programming for children should contain political statements/views. The unfortunate thing, however, is that no medium is exempt from those who wish to push their views on others, therefore, I am not at all surprised that they are now using programs meant for children as an avenue to do that.

In respect for your request, I will limit my comments to those, so as not to get into a Dem/Rep debate.

I don't have children, so I have no idea what the children's networks are doing. I remember being shocked at the price tag on bringing so many illegals to the U.S. Especially when they are cutting to military raise to 1% and adding higher fees to Tricare (or at least trying to with the budget).

I have had a bit of time to digest this and have arrived at this notion: I think this bothers me because it is analogous to a divorced parent pitting children against the other parent during a fight. It is just off-limits in my estimation! Moreover, because you have access to this influence does not mean you should use it to serve an agenda!
