After all didn't we give them "Most favored nation trade status" (Clinton, May 27, 1994). And to top that off, we've let them loan us so much money (As of March 2015, China held $1.261 trillion in U.S. Treasury Bonds.) why would they risk the chance of blowing up one of their biggest financial holding?
