Collaboration beyond the military

Want to see a web of influence, military style?
I previously served as a Partner Development Executive for TroopSwap, which later became Troop ID, which subsequently became ID.me.
For those of you who had their military identity verified by RallyPoint, you used ID.me's verification technology (though you may not have realized it at the time).
Now two years later, my nonprofit, Project Sanctuary, is using ID.me technology to verify the identity of military and veteran families as they apply to attend our retreats.
This is a great testimony of the power of collaboration among our veteran community. Project Sanctuary is proud to be associated with organizations such as RallyPoint and ID.me who are the standard bearers in their respective fields - and who are staying true to their military roots!

The VFW, American Legion, DAV and others are great sources of information if you are able to join them. Where I come from in rural Iowa, I could probably count on my two hands the number of younger veterans. Even when I joined in 1983, I was the only one in my class of 25 to volunteer in 1982 and 1984 there was just one from each class also. These organizations can't survive with that low of number for potential members. Also, if the local organization doesn't meet the minimum recruiting goals, the parent organization can seize property and funds that the local organization have been able to obtain from its membership or fund raising. Where I currently reside, this is not an issue but if a member has to travel perhaps 50 miles to the nearest meeting hall for fellowship, it doesn't warrant a two hour drive round trip. There has to be some type of compromise for those who live in the smaller communities.
