Command Sponsorship while I’m on an overseas tour in South Korea and wife is ARNG. How can she join me here and what are our options?

I’m in country stationed at Camp Humphreys. My wife and I decided to do command sponsorship so she can join me over there. Only problem is she’s Army National Guard. Has anyone dealt with this or know what we should do in order for her to join me over here? We will be approved for CSP but the National Guard thing is our biggest concern.

She could try requesting to be placed in the ING (Inactive National Guard).

If the ING is not an option, AND HRC classified it as an accompanied tour, you could talk to your wife's commander and see if there is the availability to have her conduct her training with an AD unit in S.Korea. Some Commanders are flexible if they have a memo from another Commander stating they will satisfy the UTA and AT requirements to meet the training expectations. Some Commanders will out right say no, for the simple fact that if you are on a 24 month tour and she isn't meeting her service obligations, they have little tools to call her back due to hardship, so they just pursue disciplinary action.
This scenario is very OFF/ENL and MOS dependent.

CSM Everroad,
I was able to talk with some people around here and it sounds like we have a couple options. Unfortunately that one was ruled out due to no NG units over here. It seems the easiest option is for her Commander to allow for her to make up a whole years worth of drills before she leaves. She’s then allowed to go into ING for up to a year. This would be more then enough time as we would be back by the time that year for the ING would be up. Another option that was presented was having her switch over to the reserves. It’s not ideal or something she wants as she enjoys her current unit but it is an option nonetheless.
