What regulation or policy can help protect me from being pulled from school to attend a range?

I started BLC today and my NCOIC is saying that my command team wants my SGL number so they can arrange something to pull me from class so I can go qualify at the 249 range. I think this is absolutely wrong. I shouldn’t be put on any ranges while I’m in school. This will take away from learning for me. Our class is fast pace so every bit of information is critical.

This isn’t the first time my unit does dumb shit like this.

Just two weeks ago the LTS were making people cancel and reschedule their appointments to meet their numbers for the m4 qualifications. I was one of those stupid people who canceled their appointment.

Is there’s anything to protect me from being pulled from school to attend a range?

The crazy thing is that I had the chance to qualify before I started BLC but because the LT wanted to schedule ammo pickup the same morning go the range; we didn’t get to attend the range (another units) until they were just about done. We didn’t get to zero, we didn’t qualify. We spent an hour there. All due to their poor planning.

What can I do to not be pulled from class?? I think this is crazy.

This is absolutely not okay. You are temporarily assigned to the NCOA to attend BLC, not attend ranges for your unit. You should immediately notify your SGL about this. If your SGL is unavailable, ask to speak with the senior SGL or Commandant of the NCOA.

You are on orders and asigned to the school. Your chain of command is the academy, not your unit.

The good idea will always come around. You should have been briefed that you are attached to the school house for this course. Just speak to your instructors and let them know your situation. I'm sure they see it all the time.

I once had a 1SG who 'scored' AFPTs for my Scout Sect/Plt when we were deployed overseas.
He could have just submitted a Memorandum for Record, but it was all about the numbers.
After a couple of months he was assigned by battalion to give a class on Ethics - Go figure.

They can try, and may succeed. Variables and local situation apply. There should be no prejudice regarding future if it was Command dictated. I hope.

Absolutely they cannot do that. If it was something major like a falsified application for the course or you were deploying, I could understand, but as others have stated you are assigned to that schoolhouse and you have orders. They can't order you to do squat, and if they try, every leader in your unit that has a part in that should be relieved.

Tell your SGL immediately. Then, provide the POC info of the Commandant to your unit. I can tell you that conversation will pretty much be a one way conversation. Because what your unit is trying to do is more wrong than a PVT trying to buy a Camero at 36.2% interest.

Your command will call the SGL, the SGL will tell them that you belong to the school during that time and refer them to the Commandant if they have further questions. The Commandandant will refer to your Division CSM who will explain "place of duty" and inquire why your command team's planning is so poor that missing one single SPC will break all their plans.

Army courses have a certain percentage of course instruction you are authorized to miss before automatically failing. The shorter the course, the less time you can miss. The amount of time you can miss in BLC is something like 2-4 hours before being dropped from the course. It takes an endorsement from your CG to get back in if you are. Do not leave your class

You belong to the NCOA where you're doing BLC until you are either sent home for some reason oryou graduate. Period.

Your SGL is not going to let you go to a range during the course. If they call your SGL, your SGL is probably going to direct your leadership to his leadership at the school.

I would definitely go tell the SGL and let them handle it. They'll shut your leadership down pretty quick.
