How can 34 years of service be undone by 1 comment?? This zero tolerance for mistakes from leadership is BS - especially because it doesn't seem to apply to elected officials. Hmm, wonder why that is?

Sgt Aaron Kennedy, MS - I think that public insubordination of the President is in a different league and not really a fair comparison (I assume you are referring to General MacArthur).

LTC Yinon Weiss It's an absolutely unfair comparison! (Yes, I was referring to Gen MacArthur). I actually have no idea what the comment Gen Keltz made is (article doesn't specify), but I was just highlighting the idea that these Generals "know better" :p Basically, a joke for Maj Petrarca's amusement.

This doesn't make sense to me. I can't think of any comment somebody could make that by itself would undo an exceptional 34 year career... unless that comment would also lead to legal prosecution (treason, etc.). I don't understand what somebody could possibly say to end a long career, yet still be praised by a 4 star General as part of your retirement. How can you have it both ways? Something just seems really odd about this.

I read that response, but I still don't get it. Even if he compromised the Article 15 prosecution, I wouldn't expect resignation to be the logical outcome. You can remove him from the board, retract it from the record, etc.

Sir, not sure. That far up the food chain, it turns "political" fast, and "public statement" without knowing the context or venue, it's anyone's guess.
I would have completely passed the article over had Maj Hoiland posted the thread regarding Navy culture today. I thought it was an interesting cross-post, and it kind of got the mind working. Now I'll be spending the next three weeks trying to understand how GO "relieved for cause" & resignations work.
